faulty lights

I have a 1989 nissan 240sx... I am having a problem with the taillights, when I press on the brakes the lights work but when I turn on the driving lights nothing happens. If anyone knows what they deal is please help and I have been told to look for a bad ground but i have know Idea what to look for...thanks

I've had the brake light bulb sockets go bad on mine a few times, did the same thing. Ended up at the junkyard and got a few sockets and it was fine.

when you replaced the socket all the lights came back on? maybe I will do that if you think it will work I was about to rewire the damn car..
