I work hard for my money and all money goes back into my family of 4. Money saved goes to them and their future. This is also not for my learning. I know how to do most of the work for this car, it is to teach my son everything I know and to have a bonding activity with him instead of handing him an iPod and say have at it. I'm intentions are good and sorry if it looks like I'm fishing for money.
My recommendation is to scale back. I know of a certain 6-figure household that decided not to have kids and has saved for years in hope of starting a project like that. A JDM GT-R engine in a light weight Z car is awesome... and expensive. I know it sucks sometimes not to have exactly what you want when you want it and having to make due (a valuable lesson to teach your kid). But, realistically, there is little that you can teach your kid from an exotic JDM motor that is more relevant than fixing up a scrapheap B13 SE-R, 240 SX (or whatever) for a track day car (or first car).
If you really want to get money for a show car or race car, break out the PowerPoint, put together a marketing proposal for sponsors and start pitching how a brand will benefit by having its logo plastered on the side of your car.
