LMFAO...Awsome pics of your typical shade tree parking lot turbo install. Sawzall lying around, parts and pieces everywhere. Looks just like one of my first motor swaps. Best of luck and happy boosting.

LOL yea this is at our apt's parking lot. We're a little bit behind though.. its taking longer than what we've originally planned. I hope the car will run tonight (very slim chance). But I am pretty sure it will run tommorrow.

Fastpace's setup is almost exaclty like mine (I posted a thread similar like this, including pictures, 2-3 months ago).except that he will be running some 550cc instead of 370cc(my setup). yea, this car should be able to boost higher than mine.

oh yea if anyone is wondering about how the etd manifold is holding up... it still holds pretty good. the coating chipped a little bit but thats expected.I did 2 major drift events with this ka-t for the past month and everything seems to hold pretty good (except that my WG keeps leaking from the gasket).I got the manifold and the turbine to glow bright red a couple of times too. I'm liking it so far... no melting MC yet so far :)

well we have really hit an obstacle. first it was the egr pipe that took 2 days to get off. Note to others who are doing a ka-t project in the future, take that chit off ahead of time, because it will put an damper into the project. I am going to say that we are 70% done. The thing that is giving us a problem now is the damn motor mounts, they won't buge. I am pretty stong and am usually the one to get really tight bolts off when we work on cars and now I can't get any of the motor mounts off. I tried the whole day, nothing has come of any, well one, but still nothing really. I have no clue on another method of loosening the motor mount nuts. Bbandit is thinking it is because of the curb incident that I was in about 8 months ago cause the bolt to get tighter. I am going to try something else tomorrow, but I was wondering if anyone else have any advice on taking the motor mount bolts off?

On a good note we got the ic piping and half the down pipe welded and they look nice. I will take pics of those after i clean them.

getting those motor mount bolts off: are you using a breaker bar, or at least a home-made one? Try taking the handle off of your floor jack and sliding it over a 1/2" drive... that'll extend the handle about 3 feet and multiply your torque quite a bit. Also spray some PB blaster on that bish.

bbandit- try using turbonetics fire-ring wastegate gaskets, they are sooo much better. i have 2 extra if you want one

are you gettin the motor mount bolts off to get the oil pan off? try what was mentioned and if not jsut drill into still on the car with some lithium grease on the drill bit and give it a couple oil changes. slos13 did this to his 200k motor.

Try using a dull chisel or a sharp punch on those nuts. That's what I had to resort to. Turned out afterward they weren't damaged enough to prevent my using them upon reassembly. They are notoriously tight and the location doesn't help a great deal.

Cheers

I will try what yall are suggesting. My goal tomorrow is to get those bastard motor mount bolts off. The sun today just drain the living chit out of me and I took to baths because I felt really nasty. Hopefully it doesn't rain tomorrow. That would really suck, but will try my best to get off those two gay bolts. Oh yeah I up loaded the pics of the piping.

fastpace - what i did to get those motor mount nuts off was to extend the wrench with a bigger wrench and use that as a prybar by getting under the car and coming in from the steering column side.

Bbandit - did your manifold have the unwelded joints inside at where the collectors merged? I'm concerned that a piece might flake off and end up screwing up the turbine of the turbo, or they might cause the manifold to crack.

The welds didnt penetrate through the inside. However, I havent found any problems with either the maifold or my turbine. maybe not yet...but so far so good, Its been 2 months since I first installed it and Its still holding up pretty good.

Well we got some stuff done today. We still didn't get the oil pan off, but got very close. Thanks for the ideal guys for loosening the motor mounts. However, it only worked for one side because the other one was kind of stripped. This is what we did, took off the motor mount bolt that we could and also took off the other motor mount from the top. We then lifted the motor by jacking it from the a/c mount. We got the motor pretty high, but the pan still didn't come out. The reason why was because my nismo power brace was in the way of the pan coming off. So today was a good day and kind of a frustating day. Bbandit was saying that it seems that my car doesn't want to go turbo, it keeps on resisting. Oh well, I will show her whos boss. So tomorrow I plan on getting the extra oil pan that i have tapped and jb weld the bung on it and take some stuff from the car to the apartment, because it is just taking up space.

this is what i did to get my oil pan off.

- take the top nut off the driver side mount

- take the lower nut off the pass' side mount

- drop the swaybar by removing the inner bushing brakets.

- jack the engine up by the bell housing.

- remove all bolts from the oil pan plus the 2 brakets from the transmission to the block

- pull the pan down and forward

- remove the 3 bolts on the oil pick up

Exactly what I do to remove my oil pan. It seems like you have to jack the engine up a little less on the DE engine than the E engine.

No. Don't have a clue what it is but is not steel, nor aluminium. Just somekind of crappy metal.
