People that had time and money to make there own custom parts (Intake manis, exhaust mani's,etc) to say all these supra parts are just off the shelf junk isn't totally true. Now you can buy all this **** back when these cars first started going this big it was mostly you had to make what you wanted. Such as SOUND PERFORMANCE, BOOST LOGIC, WOTM,TITAN MOTORSPORTS they are all on the same thing that AMS is just now doing with build parts for the KA. Look go to turbo240.com you can build an exact ****in replica of ivan's car all you need is a "trust fund h0m0" or someone that has a decent job. Oh and there ya go Bring up IVAN'S CAR! how many other KA-T's are in the 8's? oh wait never mind there isn't any. How many KA-T's are in the 9's? How many KA-T's are in the 10's? compaired to 2J powered cars. Sure they are easier to make the power but why is that? is that cause Toyota built a BETTER MOTOR? Oh cool some dude (1 of them) Makes 500HP on a KA24... How long have Honda people been doing that? How long has SR people been doing that. **** 500HP out of a 2J is still considered BOLT ON POWER!
And like i stated before.
HOW is a 9.1 and a 8.3 CLOSE to the same time????? That is ALMOST 1 WHOLE SECOND! What does it take to make your car 12.9? Then what does it take to make it run an 11.9? How many S-Chassis guys are even in the 10's? You CLEARLY have no ****ing idea on how drag racing works and how much 1 second is let alone a 1/2 second.
PLEASE tell me a VALID! point as to why a 8.1 @ 170+ MPH car is not impressive IN ANY TRIM!
*Just for the record, I never said the times were almost the same, I said that Ivan got that close to a 1400 bhp car with half the horsepower. So, in that regard, imagine what time Ivans car would put down with 1400-1600 hp...*
I know how much is needed to knock 1 second off your ET. I'm not retarded, and as far as your "non-linear time line" frame of mind. Yes, it would have been impressive if back in 1993 this was a headline, but considering that the 2JZ has enjoyed 15 years of R&D, and nobody until the past several years has been putting any time or energy into the KA, I find it hard to get a chub for this car. Now, like I said, I fully understand that 1 second is a mile marker in drag racing, a vehicle of the same chassis, being prepped in much the same way making under half the horsepower with 2 less cylinders getting within that 1 second mark is impressive. Call me thick, or retarded, but more than myself feel the same way. Like I said, I love the 2J, I love the RB, I hate the SR, and I have a full unadulterated respect for the underdog, be it the KA, or Hondas SOHC non v-tec D series. I get my rocks off to outlandish seemingly unaccomplishable numbers from tiny little engines that the after market doesn't even glance at until someone does it all by themselves, and the parts makers feel they can turn a buck.
It's great that they put a 2J in a 240, it's great that he wants to sell it for way less than it's worth at 22k. It's great that you think it's some monumental feat, but myself, it's like pitting a jet with the Wright brothers glider. As stated, maybe 15 years ago, people didn't have anything for their 2Js, but 15 years later there is no need to make one off parts, it's all readily available for a price. The KA on the other hand, you find me a dry sump set up that I wont have to completely one off just as an example. The engine is older than the 2J, but everyone was too encompassed by the SR to give it a second thought.
I can argue with you all day, but obviously, you have your view and I'm not trying to change it, and I have my view, and you're not going to change it. I would feel the same way if it was an RB as well just sos you knows.
