"i'm not impressed" EXCUSE ME? WHAT THE **** DO YOU HAVE AGAIN? oh i'm sorry you have SR20 with a T28 your ****in god!

oh oh hey look at me i have a KA-T that makes 230whp.

and you guy's aren't impressed with a 8.1 Second car?

What the hell is wrong with you guys? When i first saw this i posted this on a Local car forum where 20-30 people have sub 10 second cars and they ALL gave that car props and the majority of that site was V8/Domestic guys yet here is a NISSAN site and your not impressed.

is there ANYONE on Nico with a LOW 8 HIGH 7 SECOND CAR?

amd to the peole saying Ivan's car is more impressive? do you know how much power, money, time, etc goes into makeing a car go from a 9.1 to a 8.3? not to mention another 10mph.

Also what turbo is Ivan using? if i remember correctly it's the same one used on this car or its a GT45. Either way that's F'N HUGE! not taking anything away from Ivan' car i've talked to him personally a few times he is a cool **** and has a nasty *** car. But this car is on a WHOLE NOTHER LEVEL!

And not to mention. this is Duy's car. and it previously had a KA-T in it....i geuss someone wanted to go fast.

and to all you know it all 2JZ/ Supra people on here.

MY buddy has a setup that almost mirrors that (3.2L Sound Performance stroker) to where the white S14 is a (3.4L Storker) but they both run the same turbo he is out NIGHTLY with his 1200WHP Supra.

And the whole Nitrous excuse your throwing thats to spool the turbo. so with out it i doubt it would run too much slower, Also read the build it's a BL Built motor with over 80 motors built NOT 1 has blown up.

LOL,

you guys crack me up.

Well I Said I'm Not Impressed And I Have A Stock KA.Dose That Really Matter?

Yes Props Are Due.But I'm Usually Not Impressed With Drag Cars.I Know It's Actually Harder Then It Looks. But Dose It Require More Skill Then A Time Attack?Anything With A Motor IMO. Is A Engineering Feet.

Like I Said Find A Jet, Stick It In, And Call It A Day.

Well i know you said you have a Stock KA, but feel free to try and pilot a 10.50 car. and see how well that works for you. Then Try a 9.50 car see how that is. Then go to a 8.10 car and see how that is and tell me about skill.

When you own at the track what are you going to say?

"oh yea dude I just bought this car"

any schmuck with money can get a fast car, but it takes skill and reaps respect only when you build it yourself. whoever wins this auction will have fun no doubt, but they didn't do shyt, it was done FOR them. not cool

It's cheaper to buy a race car than to build your own.

I know a lot of people who have been racing semi-pro for decades who can build their own cars, but would rather just buy someone's old race car. Financially, it's better for them that way.

of course it's easier financially, but i just dont see any respect given for that.

I could go buy that car, and if I can somehow control it well enough not to crash and die, and win, people would see me in the same light as the people you know who have been racing for decades, and I dont think thats fair.

I'm not saying its not a smart move, of course it is, it's just, to me, not as respectable as doing it all yourself. Johnny the Ricer can buy it and win ya know what I mean?

Then again any Johnny ricer with money can just go to phase2motortred/ebay/name your favirote part site. And click BUY NOW and then go and drop a car off at a shop.

but thats at least taking some sort of know how to know what parts to get to make it fast, as opposed to buying what someone has already done for you.

I think you're forgetting that not everyone in the car world is mechanically inclined. If everyone was, then we wouldn't have professional mechanics or swap shops.

Also, when I talk about racing, I'm talking about real road racing. That S14 will never see the type of racing I'm talking about. It'll make it to the local 1/4 mile or 1/8 mile drag strip and wow a few onlookers, but that's all it will ever amount to.

If I were doing pro or semi-pro road racing, you can believe I'll buy a race car rather than build it.

i know not everyone is mechanically inclined, I sure as hell aren't super inclined myself, but I'm just saying that if you can pick and choose what parts you have and then bring it somewhere you have more knowledge than buying a completed car. For example, my car is at a shop with an sr20 i put in getting finished. I'm inclined enough to pull and drop in the motor, but wiring is all over my head. I could have easily bought an sr'd already 240, it was about the same price, but if I got it and ever tracked it it just wouldn't be the same as what I'm doing now.

I understand what you mean about different types of racing, but I think I just summed it up in the first paragraph... to me, no matter what type of race it is, buying a car that has been done for you is just... meh. Yea, it's your car, your name is on the title, but its not YOUR car.

Of course, I KNOW everyone has their own views on this, it's shown right here in this thread, and these are my views, thats all.

Here's a tidbit of info. I bought my car already swapped with an SR in it. Granted, I have pulled that motor a few times to fix things, have swapped a dozen SRs since then, and I fully rebuilt a fresh block for myself and replaced my old SR with it. However, in all that time, I never once considered the car not mine. 5 years later, there aren't very many bolts left on the car that I haven't had a wrench on. So who's to say that the person that does buy that S14 won't be like me. Someone who can and will mess with the car and upgrade/change parts but just wants a good platform to work with in the beginning?

Looking from that way I see what you mean, idk, I just have this premonition that Johnny the ricer will buy it and leave it and be like "yea, thats my car, check it out"... idk, just my feelings, but I definitely see what you mean

No, I'm not impressed at all. Just like you said, there are many 1k hp Supras, it's not hard to do. Craig Paisley had a 780 hp stock block stock body Supra that ran a best of 8.72 at 158 mph. It costs money, but any trust fund h0m0 has that. Don't get me wrong, not saying I don't like the car, nor am I putting down the work that he and his crack team of mechanics have done. On the otherhand, you have this small little 2.4l 4 banger, that everyone in the past has over looked. It doesn't have near the R&D time that the 2JZ has, but it can come that close to laying down the same time as a 1400 bhp 2J7 powered car of the same chassis? Yes, that impresses me. That's not done every day, and Ivan and AMS actually had to design some of their parts, it's not an off the shelf affair like the 2J.

I'm even more impressed with the guy that got 5xx whp with a stock KA. That impresses the **** out of me. Gives me hope that my POS may without a claimed life insurance policy be something more.

Does my car run 10s? No, I'm lucky to keep my car running at all. I simply do not have the money to rebuild my KAT. The pursuit of it makes me happy enough though. You have to remember, 80% of the wealth of this country is in the hands of 10% of the population, and unfortunately, my mommy and daddy or any part of my family are not in that elite group. I and most people on here don't have great connections, and what we do have, we work our collective asses off for. We don't have some shop throwing parts at us, and doing our work for us for logo placement. Hell, I don't even have access to a garage, so all my work is done under the sun and stars. It's ok though, I don't claim to have anything great.

My point? Being impressed is a relative term. I don't expect anyone to be impressed with the same things that I am. Events in life make sure that our experience and perception differ greatly. What can I say, my life has sucked so far, so I'm overly analytical and very pessimistic.

Hmmmmm where to start. Oh yeah. Where do you think the majortiy of high doller, high power Supra parts came from? People that had time and money to make there own custom parts (Intake manis, exhaust mani's,etc) to say all these supra parts are just off the shelf junk isn't totally true. Now you can buy all this **** back when these cars first started going this big it was mostly you had to make what you wanted. Such as SOUND PERFORMANCE, BOOST LOGIC, WOTM,TITAN MOTORSPORTS they are all on the same thing that AMS is just now doing with build parts for the KA. Look go to turbo240.com you can build an exact ****in replica of ivan's car all you need is a "trust fund h0m0" or someone that has a decent job. Oh and there ya go Bring up IVAN'S CAR! how many other KA-T's are in the 8's? oh wait never mind there isn't any. How many KA-T's are in the 9's? How many KA-T's are in the 10's? compaired to 2J powered cars. Sure they are easier to make the power but why is that? is that cause Toyota built a BETTER MOTOR? Oh cool some dude (1 of them) Makes 500HP on a KA24... How long have Honda people been doing that? How long has SR people been doing that. **** 500HP out of a 2J is still considered BOLT ON POWER!

And like i stated before.

HOW is a 9.1 and a 8.3 CLOSE to the same time????? That is ALMOST 1 WHOLE SECOND! What does it take to make your car 12.9? Then what does it take to make it run an 11.9? How many S-Chassis guys are even in the 10's? You CLEARLY have no ****ing idea on how drag racing works and how much 1 second is let alone a 1/2 second.

PLEASE tell me a VALID! point as to why a 8.1 @ 170+ MPH car is not impressive IN ANY TRIM!

lmao, are you guys really posting like full on drag cars to prove how "un impressive" a 2500+lbs car w/ a 6cyl that runs 8.1 @ 171mph is lol

you all know if it wa a RB26 Powered S14 running 8.1's you all would be like Ivan who? this guy is the greatest.

Those cars are not cars, they are dragsters. They have never run faster than a 4.200 in the 1/4, and when they do run in the 300's 350's their speed exceeds 320mph. Also the NHRA isn't currently running the 1/4 mile, it has been cut back to 1,000ft since the death of Scott Kalitta.

Don't compare a NHRA top fuel dragster to a full interior unibody import.

EDIT: It's also ironic the the pic you posted is of the man who actually holds the speed record, but you didn't know that
