actually, in the art world black is 'all colors mixed together'. In the science world it is the 'absence of color' but either way.. it is a color

Anyways, I have a 91 hatch that is black.

I think this guys thread is lot more harmless than RedRum's thread about why he can't chirp his pignose hb's tires. People actually gave him the time of day about his 'dilemma'

Actually white is all color spectrums combined together (look at a prism). Black is the absence of color.

Oh yea, I have a blaque fastbaque too.

nope. look at the keword in both phrases-- 'color".

lets apply your logic to something else...

if I say "there is an absence of wife in my life" it does not mean I am married to another man or that I am married to a 'shade' of a wife. What it does mean is that I don't have a wife.

the absence of a turbo in my car doesn't mean I have half a turbo installed or that I even have a shade of a turbo. It means there is a total lack of turbo.

you are absolutely correct. in the science world white is all colors in the spectrum, black the absence of color.

In the art world if you mix all primary colors together the last thing you are going to get is white.

i plan on buying a couple more black fastbacks too once i get outta school. and bust a monopoly with em lol. i know some people just buying all the 240s on autotrader/recycler right now making it suck for us...

Yeah, you'll get an ugly soup of gray and curse yourself for wasting valuable cadmium pigments in your art-school boredom...

I would suppose it turns out that way from color contamination. No pigment really matches the corresponding perfect spectrums of primary light. Most white paints are made from crushed calcium (seashells or chalks)

Anyway, thread jack over.

LOL...I missed that one. Was the answer "your car barely has enough grunt to move under it's own power, let alone break the tires loose"?

Anyway, in the automotive world black is a color, although it's usually called something much more elaborate than black, like Pearly Midnight Cloudy Night Rolling Stones Paint It Black or some such ****.

Anyway, back to the question. I don't have a black FB, but *if* I were going to respray the car, I'd definitely paint it black. Gloss black car and some flat black rims would look sweet. Hell, you could even go with a black car and some gold wheels for that Smokey and the Bandit look.

I don't have the production #'s to back this up, but I don't think there were a ton of black FB's made. If there were, I sure don't see a lot of them around anymore.

Are you guys really arguing over whether or not black is a color or shade? Last time i checked, this was a car forum, not a science or art forum.

You guys should look up the word "colloquial"
