Hey guys. I was gone for a while but now Im back. I am still going to put the vid of my fast intentions exhaust and cats up, once I finish the install. I am currently stuck trying to get the old cats off. I cant get the bolts on the top of them off (the part that is a triangle and has 3 bolts). I have all the tools the directions say are necessary but I cannot get them loose. There just doesn't seem to be sufficient room. I know its possible, I was jsut hopping someone that has done this could offer some tips or shed some light on it? I have the car up on ramps with plenty of clearance to work. It says for 07+ you need to take off the intakes to reach in there. I did that and it did not help at all. It says you need to take off the steering bar, but I haven't tried taking it off yet since I cannot get the other bolt on the driver side off. I got the one closest to the center of the car off on the driver's side, and on the passenger side I got the top bolt and the outisde bolt off, cannot get the inside one. Thanks in advance for the help. If all else fails I guess I will just put the old ones back on. It's a long drive from where I live to a garage so I wont be putting them on soon if I can't do it myself. The exhaust sounds great though.

Try using penetrating oil on the bolts. You may need to let it sit for a few hours.

alright I have a question. is there some kind of identifying mark on the O2 sensor for which side? theres some yellow/orange mark on one of them. I placed them separate last night but a friend borrowed a spark plug puller must have bumped them this morning. UGH! will there be anything seriuosly wrong if I put them in backwards?

No worries

The O2 Sensors are the same. The only difference is the plug adapter that they connect to.

Did you get the bolts off?

If you lived here I'd just swing by and loosen those up for you.

I use extensions so I can get to the bolts on the cats. The first time I take exhaust bolts off I always use a "breaker" bar. Really, its just the end of my hydraulic jack. It will give a lot more leverage so you can break it loose. Once its loose the rest is easy.

After the header install, the cats are a piece of cake now. haha

Your car may be a little different in getting those bolts off, but I can't imagine it being something I haven't done at this point!

Thanks! I ended up using like 5 extensions hahah. But I got it. Will record a video and post it for real this time. Ugh. That was a lot of work. I did end up having to take out the driver side air filter and tube. It was a whole lot easier. Now what to mod next..... ?

headers. Just get back under that car and lets work on a few more bolts. Seems like you got the level 3 bolts. Lets go for level 8 or 9 with the headers. Lots of fun. If you do headers you should do cats/test pipes at the same time.

Glad you got er done. Post up that video for us. Go out and romp on the car so the ECU adjusts and let us know how you feel.

Butt dyno says 'Wow!!!!!' I love it. The sound is perfect. Not obnoxious loud, and not high. I forgot to take a before sound though. But I'm sure you guys can compare it with your own If I only had a mic to get audio only...

I love the sound. Reminds me of my HKS.

I bet you picked up a good 20 HP with that setup.

You have intake already??

You should have done a before dyno so you could have a baseline to go off of. But yes, either way, you should go and dyno your car so we can see what a beast it is.

For future reference. Penetrating oil is good, freezing fluid is better. You heat the bolt up with a torch till it is damn hot then spray it with a freezing fluid, and that will help release the corrosion that is locking the bolt in place.

Also FYI: you'll want to check and see if the car is running lean. We see lots of cars come in running dangerously lean once they do headers, and especially with HFC. The stock ECU adjusts, but not often enough to cover the huge increase in air flow those mods create.
