Yes I know im going to get alot of s*** for this.... But I'm just curious is it something that is truly needed? I am assuming it is but I'm under the plenum and theTB is off. I have done this on my 240 (yes i know its different) and I looked at FSM a bit and noticed it has the fast idle cam which fills up with coolant and allows car to idle when at cold temps. I'm pretty sure I know the answer just want some more feedback. Thank you

What would the benefits to removing the fast idle cam be?
I know about the arguments about intake temperatures, but I don't see how it could have any major effect on intake temps.

The drawbacks seem to outweigh any benefits. If you remove it, you'll probably wish you hadn't on a cold morning when you have to keep your foot on the gas to keep the engine alive. Then again, you may not even notice that, given that you live in Arizona.

IMO, it's probably best to leave it as is. I doubt you'd see much benefit from removing the fast idle cam and there are less potential drawbacks if you just leave it alone.

Q45tech covered its function thoroughly in some of his previous posts.

Owners must overcome the idea that Nissan engineers add devices for the heck of it.

its crazy that they couldn't just use the idle up solenoid to control cold idle.

With the coolant temperature at 174*F or more crank the Auxiliary Air Control valve/Idle Air Control Valve up to 100% and tell me what the RPMs are.

Of course a clean (like new) AAC/IACV will allow more in than a dirty one!

its ok when cold, but when the engine is warm it runs at 1,300 to 1,500 rpms. since the valve is not closing at that temp.
