I thought when my in-dash turn signal light started flashing really quickly that either my front or my rear left turn signal bulb had blown. I got out of the car and was surprised to find that both the front and the rear left turn lights were flashing (flashing quickly). The right turn signal lights both front and rear flash at normal speed.

Any ideas what is causing the abnormally fast flashing of the two left turn signal lights?

Are all the bulbs in the rear flashing? Also check the bulb contacts, sometimes slight corrosion will make things act funny. Shine them up and it should be OK.

Do you mean that there is more than one rear left turn signal bulb? And similarly all around for the turn signals?

Sorry, 3 bulbs in the rear assembly. Two for brake/running lights, one for the turn signal. One in front for turn/running light.

Clean up your contacts. Had this exact thing happen on my '91 Q a couple of weeks ago. Cleaned up the bulbs contacts with scratch pad and remounted and no problems since. All the contacts LOOKED perfectly clean, but evidently there was enough oxidation there to make things funky.

I tried to get to the headlight bulbs, but could not remove the clear-plastic casing that covers the bulbs. I removed the clips but couldn't budge the cover. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Are you the daughter of Ian by any chance??? If not, please exuse me..

Anyway, you dont want to remove the headlight cover... Headlights arent of concern... The front cornering lights are probably the culprit... There is a screw holding it to the healight, and then it pops out..... It wont want to come out, but be firm, it will pop out... I dont think the rear ones are the culprit because its in the trunk.....

Yes I am Ian's daughter. Didn't realize I was famous! I did try removing the side lights like you mentioned, and saw that it was connected to the headlight and it wouldn't pull apart. I will be more firm next time. Do you need to unscrew it, or just pull? Thanks.

I guess I put 2 and 2 together... Ive exchanged emails with Ian many times... Heard about the old cadillacs and stuff... How cool!!!

You need to unscrew the thing that hooks onto the headlight (most Q I see this little piece is broken).. Once you undo that, the light will be floppy but not want tocome out. this is where there is the ball and socket joint, and this is where you kinda gotta pull hard... It will come out with a POP

Then simply twist and pull the bulb socket out, clean, and put it all back together!!

I woudl suspect that only cleaning the front ones will solve your problem, since the rear ones are in the trunk and less likely to corrode!

Thanks for the advice. Seems like I've fixed it. Thanks again.
