I've had a lot of fun with my Nissans over the past 20+ years:

1987 Pathfinder SE-V6 (1988-2000):

1990 240SX (2001-2004):

2003 Altima 2.5S (2003-2008):

2008 Rogue (2008-2012):

But, the impossible has happened. After driving nothing else but Nissan vehicles since 1989, I have switched brands. I have a brand new 2013 Mazda CX-5 GS FWD that will be replacing my Rogue in a few weeks time. The deal was just far too good both in terms of price and the excellent customer service at the dealership... I couldn't pass it up.

I would like to thank all of the Nissan community for the help and friendship over the years. I've had a great time. Perhaps I will come back to the Nissan fold in a few years time. I will need a midlife crisis car by then (I will be in my early 40's)... perhaps a Z? ;)

Cheers!

What was your Rogue mileage and what'd you get for it? We got $12,000 for our 08 with 86,000 miles. Our payoff was $9500.

Philip this is a sad day for the Rogue forum and the NICO club overall, however we are very happy for you and wish you all the best.

You have been an amazing moderator for close to 4 years and have given us such a wealth of good advice and knowledge that we all appreciate so much. Your contribution to the sense of community and good will towards fellow Nissan owners has made my Nissan experience incredibly positive.

All the best and please keep in contact with us once in while!

Thanks Kerrton.

I will try to drop by occasionally, but in about 3 weeks I will no longer have the Rogue so it will be harder to relate my experiences with it. I won't be frequenting any of the Mazda forums either (I'm not a member on any of them). I find I barely have time to visit NICO right now.

Congrats on the new car!! That's too bad for us as you and Kerrton were always excellent sources on this forum. I was already checking in on you guys before my old Xtrail lease was up. It would be great to get your opinion on the CX-5 once you get going on it. I do recommend www.torontomazda3.com for up to date deals etc., but I'm sure there will be a proper CX-5 one.
I will probably test drive it in a couple of months once they get stock and it cools down. But, will probably wait for the next Rogue and the diesel CX-5 and see how things work out then. I bought my 2009 Rogue S Awd for $26,500 and am about $30,000 all in including small mods. It only has 45km on it now.

The countdown is on...

My CX-5 is currently on a rail car on it's way from the port of Vancouver, BC. It should be here soon. ;)

I just found out today that the stock Rogue steel wheels that use for my winter tires will NOT fit the CX-5. The reason isn't the wheel, tire size or lug bolt pattern but the centre bore hub diameter. Nissan is 66.1mm, Mazda uses 67.1mm. Looks like my steel wheels will have to go. Tires are good though. BTW, the CX-5 (with 17" wheels) comes with Yokohama Geolander G98 tires.

Another thing, the front license plate which is required in my area. There is NO license plate holder, just 2 dimples to attach screws to. I suppose it's better than the ugly stuck on plate holder Nissan uses on the Rogue.

Well, today is the last day with my Rogue. The CX-5 arrived last week and I take delivery of it tomorrow morning.

The Rogue will get a good wash and cleaning tonight before it's sent off. Hopefully it's new owner will enjoy it as much as I have. :)

just like calling a company, when they know your buying something, the customer service is always super. its when you come with a complaint; they give you the PLEASE HOLD lol
and regarding the price: resale value will hurt you later down the road when that Mazda has over 80,000miles.

best of luck you mate; and drive safe!

I took delivery of my Mazda CX-5 today and bid the Rogue farewell.

Thanks for the great times and the experiences over the past 4 years. I really enjoyed being the Rogue Forum moderator and answering all your questions. I wish everyone well and drive safe! :D

Enjoy the new ride Phil and best of luck with it! Even though you're driving a Mazda you'll always be part of the Nissan family and welcome here any time!

CX-5 is nice with all the features that not even most basic models include such as start button ,touch screen, alloy wheels, rain sensors and LED taillights. Was going to test yesterday but the demo cx-5 ran out of gas and only got 2 km left so out of luck. The dealer claims they sold over 37 cx-5 already in 1 month. The onlly reason that anyone would refuse is the 3.44% high interest rate

Phil, thanks again for your help and posts to this forum. Although I don't post as often here as I would like to, I followed and learned from your posts without "thanking" you. I am sure there are many more members like me. Enjoy the Mazda, I test drove it yesterday and loved it. You made a great decision. Enjoy...
