Wow that's definetly quite the change from a 240. Good luck and hopefully you can find a corvair forum that's as good as NICO.

Car love goes beyond the 'hamburger' buddy, for most of us.

I am interested in the corvair project. I never much cared for them, but it seems that you got a solid car. What motor is actually in the car? <- corvair retarded

it's a 2.7L air-cooled flat six with a turbo lol

they are known to overheat and have a lot of problems but they have also been known to be pretty reliable with proper maintenance.

interesting. I had not idea chevy had that motor.. and I call myself a car guy. Well in my defense these cars were never my bag.

Vw were air cooled as well, but to solve the problem when putting them in a sandrail they had a radiator mounted with electric fans.

you cant put a radiator on an air cooled. Ive been working on a VW project for 4 years. All I can tell you is get a big oil cooler, deep sump, keep your engine tin black, and a CHT gauge.

Alot of problems, yet pretty reliable LOL.

That motor looks crazy man. I wonder how that single tube exhaust flows... Updates required.

let's read that sentence again lol

same thing with rotaries, many people say they are pieces of garbage but then again there's people that daily drive them and have no problems whatsoever.

at least he stuck to something rare, 240's are becoming as rare as corvairs. Speeking of corvairs, I love the shape, and I drove a horrible junker for a customer to see about a clunk and I was surprised that it doesn't drive like a boat, like those disconnected GTO's and chevelles from the same era. I say a cage, porsche drivetrain, and a complete suspention build would make this sexy thing to one bad mother F*****

it's just the way you drive it/maintain it.

well good to know you guys want me around still , the corvair is very solid in fact it only has 123,437 original miles so no rust , carpet still looks fresh as well as the head liner handles great i cut the springs so now its lowered 2.5 inches (sorry no pics as of now) and i came across a forum on corvairs and their planning on doing a subaru sti swap which really cathes my attention .....but here's a couple of pics from other modified corvairs ...

this is a mid V8 swap mated to a porsche trans axle

and a custom twinturbo conversion enjoy

my dad has that poster in his garage lol

I'd say keep the flat six and do the fuel injection kit and build a badass turbo vair without the turbo pressurizing air/fuel mixture...just my .02

yes true but i can only get 200hp all motor or more if lucky and the fuel injection kit is like 2g's and the ej25 is 1,000 and in a 2,400 pound corvair car well do the math very decent quarter mile #'s
