I NEED A JAYDIEM TYTE ENJINE YO AND I NEED TO KNOW WHICH IS BETTER: SR20 OR CA18?

j/k

But in all honesty I really do want a comparison between the sr20 and the ca18. Im not trying to figure out which one is better, because that is pretty much a stupid question about any engines. I just want to know some basic pros and cons between the two. I have been wanting an sr20 for a while but I cant afford it yet... the CA18 just recently caught my eye (for whatever reason I never had interest in the CA before) and I noticed you can get a CA for significantly cheaper than an SR20. So there you go... I started the pros and cons list already please help out

CA Pro: CheapSR Con: Not as cheap

CA is iron block, cheaper, and you can get almost any part for it at Auto Zone.

The SR has better aftermarket support, is aluminum, and has more displacement.

That's really it in a nutshell.

Ok then how does it compare to the KA? How does the CA rev? KA's feel really weak. I hate mine and it is in good condition (it is a single cam but if I am gonna do a swap it wont be just to get one more cam and achieve 15hp so dont reccomend a KA24DE) The powerband on the KA leaves me feeling a little empty. I want something that grows evenly in power like I hear the SR does. Does the CA have a nice powerband?

all of this info you seek can be found on the web and on NICO..

CA is old and will either need a rebuild or parts replaced if its not in VERY good condition.. you could turbo the SOHC KA and have tons of fun, or swap the KADE and turbo that and have even more fun. the SR is very practical as there is alot of aftermarket and alot of support for it. there are limitless options you can do as far as engine choices. get on google and search the difference (there are sites that have covered this..) and make sure when you choose a platform, that is best suites you.

It has been rather unclear what ARP-studs to use for the main bearing caps on the ca18det. I made an extensive investigation and can now confirm that the kit 165-5402 is a 100% fit.
