Is it worth it to swap to electric fans? i notice some guys do it over here but i've never seen a jap silvia using them, especially the race versions like the Signal S15.....

So why do those who do it do it? and why arn't the jap cars using them them as a mod.....?

My guess would be less weight to rotate on the pully, thus added power.....but what other options are there? lighter fan than the SR one?

if it's worth it then i'd just assume do it now before i swap....

Doesn't mean that those guys in japan or elsewhere doesn't switch to E-fans doesn't mean you don't have to or can't either. It's all up to you if you want to switch to E-fans or not, yes it does relieve a little stress from your engine, but I'm sure you probably can't even notice it...all I can say is that my dual E-fan setup hasn't let me down yet and I got it for $15 from a wreck yard off a Sentra.

Well the SR from what I have observed cools pretty good. Ive never overheated with the fan removed and the needle never fluctuates. The SR cools really quickly (quicker than any car ive driven), i'll leave it in the garage after driving home or something and the temperature gauge reads it as completely cool only 30 min after it was last run. I dont think the SR needs that much help from fans but the duals dont draw much power and I may add a single electric fan later (im in no big hurry).

Flex-A-Lite makes some really nice low profile dual 12" electic fans. They will really clean up the engine bay and reduces some rotational weight.

One good reason to switch to electric fans while doing the sr swap, is that the stock ka fan shroud won't line up with the stock sr fan, so unless you got the fan shroud with your sr, you have to find an alternative, easiest way--> electric fans

YES, GET ELECTRIC FANS. $15-20, how can you go wrong?

Screw paying $200 for FAL unless you can afford to throw away your money. SR20DET's run cold. With the dual electrics off a Sentra/Pulsar whatever... I have to disconnect one of them when its too cold out... damn car won't warm up. I've been meaning to put one of them on a manual switch.

its not really there : ), it was a nice inside joke, dont worry, its not there in real life : )

ask daunttless about the GTR emblems and the power they add

(one time at ATCO i saw this white 240 s13 with GTR emblems, ugly red graphics down the side, and huge slicks, so i was like "damn, a rb swap, nice", i was like which rb you use, he said"huh?, its the KA".....a low-mid 10 second KA mind you, the fastest 240 i have seen, and the most advanced setup mind you also, yet GTR emblems on back, side, and front...it was one of Pepe loco's puerto rican boys, so you know they are serious racers, but the badges were too much....)

Ok, just making sure you weren't losing it....and I do know about the added power by emblems but you will gain more from Type-R emblems : )

They are talking about this in the general discussion forum also.

I looked up a silvia site that says that the mech fan takes about 2 - 4kw of power while the electric ones take a max of 0.5kw.

Check out the link in my post:

Quote »Having the fan operating when not required means a loss in engine power - I have heard around 2-4kW as a conservative guesstimate, whereas electric fans use about 0.5kW max[/quote]Well, he heard it somewhere... guy on the internet quoting something he heard... I wouldn't run out and make a claim. Of course, its only obvious there will be a power difference when removing the crank fan. It makes sense. I definitely noticed the difference in my car.

I'm not sure as I saw it hanging on a rack only, but on the fan it says Sentra. Could be the 87-89 Sentras, I'm not sure...it's a stock dual fan setup though.

I took mine off a JDM early ninties Pulsar hatchback. If you get them from an early ninties USDM Sentra, they should be the same as mine.

Mine are attached with very large zip ties on three corners, only one of the brackets at the bottom lined up. The zip ties go through the radiator and have been holding very well for a long time now.
