1. Are you a fan of drifting through spectation or participation or both?First, obviously from spectation (back in '97). As you start trying it yourself though, you realize the skill level it entails to achieve such a driving style. That is when you come to respect it and appreciate its talent and aesthetics.
2. What is the main appeal of drifting, to you?Attacking the corners. The exhileration of they tail "losing control" without really losing control. They sound of the tires screeching. The smell of disintergrated rubber. They pulse of the throttle. The Feint. The timing, the coordination, the sheer beauty of a car violating the standard of forward motion. One of the biggest factors is that it involves more than wearing stickers, bolting on parts and merely stepping on the gas. There is some serious skill involved. As Keiichi Tsuchiya puts it 'power is not everything'. It involves a 'balance'.
3. Of companies that are drift sponsors, do you hold them in at a different level than other tuning companies?I would say so, to a certain point. Why shouldn't I? They are appealing to the sport I have chosen to love. They strive to not only market the products that can help me drift better, faster, or with less effort but, they strive to do exactly that: bring improvement.
4. Would you be more likely to buy products from a Drifting sponsor?More likely, yes. Not exclusively, though. They show, by sponsoring, that their product performs. This does not mean to me that they are the only company that provides a product that can perform to my expectations.
5. Do you follow any drift drivers specifically? If so, who?I do. Specifically Ueo, Taniguchi, Ken Nomura,
6. If a drift driver from a team (lets say Signal) were to change teams, would you be loyal to the driver or the team, or both? Some companies and drivers have earned certain levels of respect. That would depend entirely on which driver and/or which sponsor.
7. What, if anything, makes drifting better than other motorsports? The Skill and the Beauty of a car sliding sideways against all common reasoning while connecting the corners (which many drivers find difficult even when going straight).
