Heath's caution is well founded. Suprisingly low torque specs apply when putting steel bolts into aluminum . . . if you don't have the factory repair book (your car came with a mini-sized 1000-page book), buy a new one just for the torque specs!
To clear more working space, you might wish to remove the fan shroud. It's a 2-piece affair. Remove all connections from periphery of the shroud, bottom part comes off, and whole shroud lifts up and out. Simple once you've done it once.
