I am trying to run an electric fan with a relay and a thermostat. What should I use as my switch 12v signal wire? Are there any specific wires that are good. My thermo and relay are on the battery side so it would be better if there was a good wire there. I know there is the fuse box right there but what specific wire should I use?

do not mess around with any other fan controllers besides the diff controller at frsport or who ever.... they are the best fan controllers for our cars period.....

The 10 amp fuse (eng cont) i believe in the passenger side fuse box is good. I you are pulling your 12V source for a relay just test for the side one the fuse with 12 volts when the ignition is on

Why don't you change your name to ask stupid questions.

Yeah pull the voltage off the relay and put that thermostat right through your radiator that is the thing to do. It will overheat ---

Why not use factory electric fan system? ECM is designed to cut it on at appropriate temp, plus the plug is already fused. Unless you race it and want the fans to cut on early i dont see any reason to use aftermarket fan control device

The sr20det loves to run hot -- like all turbo cars do. I use the diff controller off the factory temp sensor running twin 12 inch fans -- my car has never over heated ever with this setup.

factory cooling system is designed for this engine and unless you race it for more then three minutes on an autocross track its a waste. fact that engine has a turbo was taken in to consideration during the design of factory cooling system. unless of course the owner is running a puny ka radiator , then by all means stick all the fans you can in there.

plus having the fans come on early isn't that effective considering that factory thermostat wont open for probably another 30 degrees. of course it cools the radiator "prepping" the coolant for that majical moment....but once it opens you're pretty much at same point as me with my fans coming on at "normal" time (minus small head start on coolant temp)as if you had the coolant temp set to factory setting.

just don't forget the reliability factor of advance auto parts 60$ controller...it may cost that much and it may see a lot but it isn't worth half that, its crap

i had the pleasure of running 100% factory system in 105 weather on an autocross track, it did just fine.

i just don't like your "loves to run hot" statement, its incorrect. and yes i know you don't mean it literally

end rant, just killing time

I understand the clutch fan is great. But the factory clutch fan doesn't take in to account the big front mount I have in front of my AC condenser that is in front my radiator in 100+ degree temperature with 80+ degree humidity on most hot days. I do need to get an aftermarket thermostat. However, a fan that can keep the radiator cool will help no matter what.

And if you intend to criticize me use proper grammar. Then is not the same as than. People on this board need to go back to middle school to learn grammar.
