I'm in the process of putting ym car back together after changing the knock sensors. On the y33 i did it through the front by taking of the fan alternator and some radiator hoses. But my question is should i even put the fan shroud back on? I mean its not hard to put on but its gotta go on before the fan blade and the fan blade is a pain in the *** with the shroud there.

So the line of reasoning is Infiniti just had these lying around the factory and got rid of them by installing them on the VH41DE?

Good thinking, i should have thought of that, that would be my guess to. but do they really do that much? like is it worth rubbing all the skin off my knuckles against the radiator for?

Install the bottom piece of the shroud which is about 20% of the shroud and then the fan blade and then slide the top half of the shroud straight down parallel with the radiator. Connect the shroud together when both pieces are in.

The shroud makes a HUGE difference in engine cooling and A/C performance, particularly during low-speed driving. It's definitely worth a few bloody knuckles!

The fan's a lot easier to attach if you use a ratcheting flex-end wrench (GearWrench or similar) -

Also, are you installing the fan and the fan clutch as an assembly onto the front of the engine? Or are you installing the fan onto the fan clutch already assembled onto the engine. Removing the fan and clutch together is easier, four bolts that are easily seen.

What bloody knuckles? If yer bleedin, STOP!, YER DOIN IT WRONG.

Seriously, first get some decent gloves with tactile sensitivity.

Next do it like the mon say, bottom part foist, den fan clutch/blade ***.

AFTER ya got de fan & clutch ting tite mon, put on de top.(1/4'' torque wrenc

Takes only a moment longer for correct reassembly. Huge dividends.

Having the fan shroud on and the under engine cover forces air through the radiator improving cooling.
