Can anyone look at this pic and tell me whether it's missing a part? The part that surrounds the mech fan. It looks like it is only half there, and there is a piece missing, a piece that can clip on and off. Hard to describe, I know, but you should be able to tell by the pic.

TIA.

Yup. its missing something. All of the nissan shrouds I've ever seen have a 2 piece surround for the fan, an upper and a lower. The lower is usually the one that is removable, but I'm not totally sure in that picture.

CRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP.

I still have my KA one out in the garage. I'll see if I can rig something up tomorrow.

In the worst case, it's already better than what you have. Besides, the top half of the shroud is what holds the hot air down, and keeps it from creeping up over the top of the block. The bottom half already has the benefit of being in the direct airflow.

Does anybody know if I can mount the shroud with the radiator in the car? I don't really feel like pulling the radiator again.

I dunno about the JDM one, but with the USDM one you can, you just have to be careful not to bend any of the fins while doing it.

As far as the lower fan piece, I really don't think you need it. I didn't put mine back on when I was doing my timing chain job and have shown no signs of overheating.

Of course, that's with the KA but I don't think it should make a difference.

Budd: The SR one is not a two piece. The way to get it in is to take the fan off, install the shroud, then install the mechanical fan again.

And yes the KA is a two piece.

Edit: nevermind I think I see what you are talking about. A small 1" piece that should go around the bottom. Shouldn't make any difference on cooling.

Yeah just take the front fan off the engine and put the shroud in my shroud is actually missing the lower part. But its easier to coax it in after the engine fan is off. Another thing look at the lips on the shroud what do you think missing one piece of that shroud will do to your engine make it overheat? Trust me if that was the case I would invest in a different car. Missing a piece wont make a difference.

It seemed that you where worried that you where missing a part of the fan shroud. Trust me missing a peice isnt gonna make a difference on how cool your engine runs.

the top half will make a difference under load/hot days, but like someone said above, that lower half piece wont matter, i think we're beating a dead horse with this thread though...
