Fan Problems

hi guys yes this is my first post how is everyone.... someone from freshalloy recomend i come here so here i am and heres my first question...sigh a bad night for my 240

ok so im driving home or whatever tonight. and im in 4th gear around 5 k or somthing. I suddenly hear a clunk from the front of my car, and i think o maybe i just like hit a piece of whatever, no big deal, then i see my ebrake light and battery light comes on..... so i check ebrake and its down. Then i hear like some clunking and some scraping im like aw crap i blew a tire. pull over check everything out its fine. then i look under car and i see my fan.... i pull it out. My fan broke like the rod that comees from the back of the fan and connects to im thinkin that could be my water pump not to sure but it broke. so basically can someone point me in the direction i need to go. what do i need to replace i guess what exactly happen? has neone heard of this b4? y did my lights come on etc. ne info would be great thx

The fan is connected to the water pump, probably need to replace that. Unless you're certain the ebrake worked before, probably not related. The 2 lights indicate a problem with the alternator I think. When the fan broke it may have damaged the alt or maybe a harness. Often the fan will mess up the radiator too, either punch a hole in it or bend a bunch of fins.Start the car and measure the voltage at the battery. Should be 13-15v.
