So my fan that runs from the power-steering belt fell off while i was driving in town. It ripped my electric fan off and the wires so that's trashed now too. Got a question though. Is there anyway to just get rid of that fan and use a smaller belt for my power-steering and get a kill-switch for a new electric fan and have it run all the time to keep my engine cool or will that not work?

right now i can't drive a block without the car overheating. I just want to know if the electric fan running all the time will keep the engine cool enough...

it fell OFF!!! Pics or it didn't happen. did the bolts shear off or something? anyway the fan can be separated from the pully so just take it off and get a thermo control switch for the electric so it can run when needed.

why does no one believe anything that happens on here. but I will go take some pics. The fan is chilling in my front seat so is the belt and wont stay on at all. you get it on and 3 seconds later it rips off again.

You can see where it damaged my radiator when it fell off.

ok so it almost looks like the bolt sheared off from the pully, i mean you have to have that pully to run your water pump. but the fan itself can be unbolted from the pully. just confirm the condition of the bolt that holds the pully on.

The bolts are on tight! the pulley itself wont stay on. It's not just the fan falling off its the whole wheel.

So i can't bypass that wheel and just run a shorter belt from my water pump to my power steering?

no. without uor water pump you wont last long. So you tighten down the bolt to the water pump and it backs itself out...make sure the water pump hasnt seized or something.

water pump pulley bearing failure. It happened to me one time, But I caught it on time and stop as soon as I noticed the temp gauge. Running your belts too tight is normally the cultprit. Or your water pump just failed.

+1 With jacker on this one. And as far as the E-Fan situation just hook it up and run off a thermostat or run it to a power source that comes on once the car comes on as well. Just saying...

i used NISSAN240SX12 diagram on the first page for my e-fan setup but i used sentra fans ($20 for both fans)

Fan 1 (5 blade ) comes on when i put the key to IGN.. Fan 2 (4 blade) come on by a switch in cabin. But I will have that come by a temp switch later on .

hope that helps
