I was wondering how to take this part out. Will I be required to take out/move the radiator for the job? I took a stab at it the other day and seemed like it would need to be done, hoses leading to the radiator were connected to the plastic fan guard, and I didn't want to screw with those hoses, fearing radiator fluid spraying me in the face. Also I would like to know how it would affect my car not having this piece on there for a few months. uh yah hehe the cars a 240sx 93

you can remove the shroud independantly from the radiator. remove the intake tube from the shroud. release the hoses from the shroud (no need to disconnect them at the ends) lay them behing the engine removal hook to the passenger side of the valve cover. lower the coolant level in the radiator. disconnect the upper rad hose from the rad. dissconect the shroud from the radiator . remove the lower shroud piece lift shroud out of car. then remove the fan blade. takes about 15 to 20 mins.

you can run without the mechanical fan, when it was off you might of noticed there was a smaller electrical fan against the radiator, when the coolant gets to a certain temperature this will turn on to provide more cooling.

there are people that just took the mechanical fan off and left the one electrical fan to handle all the cooling. most havent had problems. only way I see it overheating is if you are sitting in traffic for a while in 95+ degree weather. best course of action is buying a set of dual fans and hooking em up, this way your probably pulling more air then the original stock system.

burn out your clutch? huh? lol... it is in no way connected to your clutch which presses against the flywheel. the mechanical fan does use a clutch type device but just remove that along with the fan and your fine, just remember to put the bolts back in :)

Yah I left the radiator fan on there, thanks for the help. Also I thought that the fan was designed to cool the clutch, I guess thats why its called fan clutch , and not clutch fan. :rolleyes
