I've got (fan clutch) one off my 97 parts car and was curious as to what sort of resistance I should feel while turning it by hand in 50 degree weather?

All help appreciated.

Not sure by hand, but when mine failed, it failed in locked position, causing a ton of noise due to the amount of air it was moving-the fan was literally spinning at engine speed...above 2000 rpm,it sounded like a jet. They can also fail in unlocked mode, clutch just freewheels, fan wont spin fast enough to cool motor at idle or low speeds

Actually since the main pulley is larger than the water pump pulley that fan would be spinning faster than the engine.

Pretty tough to test a fan clutch unless the garage/outside is 90-100F. Eben an electric heater won't get the clutch body to 200F easily.............oven on low?

Hot air gun should work nicely...
