Fan clutch blew

well i was driving on the west loop, trying to catch up to a 350 and heard a big bang. wtf was that? i look im my rearview and saw a black object in the middle of my lane. :oface just a piece of tire. when i got home, i popped the hood and discovered that my secondary fan is gone, the shroud is busted, and the fan clutch is split in half. the car still runs fine. could i get away without it? but i don't feel comfortable with that. would it be difficult to install the fan clutch assembly on my own? are the parts very expensive?

installing a mechanical fan is super easy... 4 bolts. the parts should be cheap... ive got 1 lying around if you want it.

just leave out the clutch fan, and rewire the ac fan to a toggle. ive done this and works great.

Word.. As long as you're not ragging it on a 90 degree day and the car is healthy it shouldnt be a problem. Been running mine for 40K like this with 148K on the car.

go to a junkyard, yank a dual electric fan from a nissan(about $20), fab it by trimming some plastic to fit on stock radiator. Wire it up and you got a nice set up. Much more quiet than the mechanical fan and maybe free up some hp who knows . I have fan & clutch in excellent cond laying here but i dont have time to find a box , wrap it and send it.
