I have a 1991 Q45. It looks like I need a new radiator fan. Can the blades be replaced or does this require the whole clutch assembly?

Allow me to translate into english:

Yeah, replace the blades. Its an easy DIY projecet, but expect a skinned knuckle or two. Remove the plastic screw type clips and remove the plastic cover over the radiator. Then remove the fan from the water pump pulley with a 1/4 inch drive 10mm socket. Work the blade around and remove. The nuts need to be on there slightly tight (about 12lbs of torque) but not really tight...

No big ting, man!

Never understood how Fred thought what he said was so important (and most of it was), but couldn't spend the time to edit his posts to a universally readable form of English. Defeats the whole purpose.

much easier to just remove the 4 bolts from clutch and take out fan/clutch assembly as a unit, replace blades while on the bench, reinstall the unit to the waterpump- no red shrouds need to be removed whatsoever-even with my big,fat hands!

Yep. Much more room to work.

Edit: And I think that's rad shroud, as in, it'll clear the radiator shroud. You can snug the whole unit out of there.
