Driving home yesterday, I heard the sound of dropping metal. Thought nothing of it as I saw nothing behind me when I drove away. Come to find out this morning it must have been the bolts holding the radiator fan because it is now flopping around. I need to know what kind of bolts to get to secure the fan.

On a side note, I've been having some engine cooling issues. Basically, if I'm sitting in traffic the truck starts to get hot and is even worse if I use the A/C. It only every stays cool as long as I'm driving. Thermostat? Water pump is new.

Lastly, the truck jerks under most situations of acceleration mostly under 3k rmp. Tachometer does not jump but Speedometer does. Fuel issue?

I'm going to guess that the fan clutch has failed. It should lock up as the ambient temperature rises, causing the fan to spin faster - more in a 1 to 1 ratio with engine speed. That would explain your overheating as well. This is the part that bolts between the water pump and fan blade assembly.

I would fix the overheating issue first, and see if the jerking gets better.

Which bolts are you looking for?? There are bolts that attach the fan blade to the fan clutch. There are also 4 studs and nuts that are used to assemble the fan clutch to the water pump. The bolts used to hold the fan blade to the clutch are 10 mm. But I don't know the length or pitch. The 4 nuts are also 10mm. Unknown pitch. The fan clutch would be a good starting place. Some other things to look at- the thermostat just because it's new doesn't guarantee its good. A bad radiator cap will also cause overheating. A collapsed hose will cause overheating. Cooling system could be air locked. Something you don't want to here - head gasket.
