So, I took the car in for smog, and failed....stock KA24DE

I failed the Fuel Evaporative Controls, which I guess has to do with the EGR or PCV?

Ignition timing was off by 5

my HC(PPM) at 15MPH was at 171, maximum allowed 118at 25MPH HC(PPM) 100, maximum 93my NO(PPM) was at 1105, maximum was 799at 25MPH NO(PPM) 762, maximum 738

I need to change out my spark plugs, change the oil, and fuel filter. I was told that the car was running hotter than normal, but it wasn't overheating, so I need a coolant flush? I can smell gasoline when I drive the car after about 2-3 minutes. I see no fluid leakage.

Need the wisdom of forum masters

Evap is your tank/fuel system. Most likely they did a manual pressure test on the fuel tank and found a leak. First thing to check is the gas cap and the o-ring for the fuel pump.

As for the emmisions (tailpipe) failure, all your values aren't far off from passing. Tune up, oil change, set timing to spec, and run through a tank of Chevron Supreme. Once you've refilled the tank with Supreme, bring it to the smog hot and you should pass with some wiggle room.

No. The Evaporative Emission System is the gas tank and the venilation system connected to it. They pressurize the tank and check for a leak (loss of pressure). My S13 failed due to the o-ring for the fuel pump leaking. It was $8 from the dealer.Like mentioned, I think the tailpipe emissions are low enough to clean up with a fresh tune and high quality fuel with cleaners. Another thing to do is run SeaFoam through the intake manifold, fuel tank, and maybe even the crankcase before you change the oil.It can be found at most auto parts stores for about $10 and has directions for use on the can.

actually, I read that (depending on how dirty the engine is) some chunks of buildup could dislodge and end up clogging something when using seafoam?
