well i got a set of HKS hipermax coilovers, and never got around to getting the rest of the front end stuff.

i went to get an inspection the other day and failed horrible

they said i needed to replace my bellow boots? outer tie rods and they said my rack and pinion is leaking, now i had my oil changed earlier that day, dont know if there was extra oil down there, i dont know anything about the rack and pinion so, do i need a new one, is it just a seal or something else ...i drive the car hard and it still drives fine.

also wondering if oem tie rods were any different then say TEIN or JIC

dunno what a bellow boot isouter tie rod boots could be cracked, mine were all messed up when i got my car. that would probably be a good thing to do anyway. you could get some from autozone or whatever for cheap, or buy tein for like 150, or buy spl for a little more than that. SPL is gonna be the best performance but i dunno what you want to spend. rack and pinion could possibly be leaking but eh. theyre probably just being douche bags. if you want to replace it, new steering racks (same as rack and pinion) run a little less than 100 bucks at a junkyard.

before you d!ck around with any of that stuff, i would just take it to another place for an alignment.

Stock boots fit the Tein's. Unless otherwise noted, you gotta buy 'em separately.

On a side note, I hit a curb pretty hard the other day and wrote off a tire from the impact, but the Tein rods have no damage at all. I would recommend them.

the bellows he is talking about are the rubber boots coming off the end of the rack on each side where your tie rods come out. If the bellows are bad that will make the rack leak at the bellows, if the rack is also leaking i would replace the whole unit. When you buy a rack assembly you get your rack with new bellows, inner tie rod ends etc. 240s are very easy to do a rack on. Good luck BTW they might be tryin to bone you saying the rack is leaking beacause if the bellows are bad that will make it look like a rack leak. You can get bellow kits and the will fit aftrermarket tie rods. It could also be lines and they are tryin to sell you a whole rack job

i hope theyre just being shady, i heard from a couple people that they do that kind of stuff. they also said i had 3 exhaust leaks, but somehow i passses CO emissions not even a year ago with the same "leaks"

how much would a whole rack run, ive been looking but no luck. and s14's never show up in our junkyard so.
