No Frams on Nissans period. Saw the same thing happened to a 87 300zx. Fram is crap. There is the evidence right there.

I knew better too, but I didn't think it would fail with so few miles on it. If I'm lucky all it will cost me is a bunch of time, some coolant, and a head gasket. We'll see what I find in the next few days when I pull the head off.

i ran fram twice...not one problem at all.
HOWEVER, it wasnt on a boosted motor, or a big block haha, just a stock oem motor...
perhaps thats the issue, besides, why the hell would you put an average cheap filter on a engine youve sunk money into...to me itls like saying yeah nothing but the best for this motor...then saying eh, i can re use this oil...or hey, these plugs dont look all that black and beat...perhaps its an oil pressure issue. who knows. i remember when people said penzoil was crap, then quaker state was crap then valvoline was crap blah blah blah.
same with plugs filters or all types etc. you get what you pay for, Caveat Emptor, know what im sayin

Spend the extra $3 for a better oil filter. Anything Fram is crapola. I dont even trust an air filter from them.

I would sue Fram

i remember reading about a truck that the fram filter exploded. the guy was driving down the highway and he heard a pop, the filter burst like a grenade, sending oily shrapnell everywhere.

took me 2 days and had to remove the alternator. it twisted in half like a pop can would and riped right off. had to make a custom punch to hammer away at it till it finally broke lose.
