failed emmisions high nox

took 89 240 to inspection station failed for high nox took to my mechanic says my egr valve was stuck open , wouldn't this help putting more exhaust gas into combustion chamber. is the egr valve operated thru the bpt valve. does the bpt apply a vacuum to egr valve to make it open?

First and foremost, check all the vacuum lines going to the EGR valve and BPT Valve. Then check back with us.....

Other than valves the egr suppy tube or the passages maybe clogged.............high nox is almost always egr related.
