My car has 198000+Miles on it. But still runs fine for its age and mileage.Recently, it failed for the first time Emission testing. It passed it two before from the first time. The car does burn some oil [Mostly at start up now, mostly bluish smoke] especially if I delay my oil change. I just did an oil change, tune up [rotor and cap, wires, plugs(NGK Platinum), O2 sensor and PCV valve].

Don't know what else should I change. According to the suggested repairs the VEIP guy's in MD suggested the only remaining thing would be the CAT converter. Does that sound like it?

I don't want to spend much money on the car since it is clearly old and at the same time don't want to junk it.

Thanks very much for any help.

I have a feeling that the Stanza has an Air Injection system like the 240's did. This part directly affects HC emissions and only the HC emissions. There is a vacuum actuated valve on this system that can corrode internally and stop working. If your car has this, pull the valve(brass colored cylinder with a vacuum line attached). Push in the plunger with your hand then put your finger over the vacuum hose attachment to plug the hole. Let go of the valve. The plunger should barely come back out. If it comes out all the way, with the hole plugged, it is bad. I had to replace this part in 2 different 240sx's to get them past smog.
