fail safe problem

i have a 1990 s40sx with the ka24e, and my car keeps rev limiting at 5000 rpms. a mechanic told me it was in fail safe mode how can i take it out of fail safe??

anyone else have this problem?

i may have had this problem with my 90 hatch. It sometimes feels like the fuel is being cut off at around 5200. It only happens once in a while and mostly when its not warmed up. Im clueless as to what it is. If you get an answer, let me know.

the fact that you said you didn't search means that you know that you should have and decided not to.

the first thing to do would be to check your ECU codes, because your ECU is what will limit you, although usually it keeps it below 3000 if you're in fail safe. clean your MAFS. use the search or check out http://www.240sx.org/faq
