fading head unit display

sometimes when i turn on my radio i can barely see what time it says or the radio station its on. its there but its just really really faded. after a while it will get brighter and back to normal. idk why it does that. also sometimes my radio doesnt work and i have to turn it off and then on again. i dont mind doing that but im thinking one day its not going to turn on ever. is this happening to anybody else? i have never messed with the electronics and everything is completely stock, electronics wise..

Mine does the dimming thing too sometimes. Have no idea why but it does.

yea it happens to me too, usually on a really hot day and i jump in and its pretty faded

mine does it even when its cold at night. Was wondering if a ground kit and a battery upgrade would help with this. but then again its only a stock head unit so ill deal with it later.

Are you talking base stereo or Bose? If stock, I can say I've never had a problem and I see temps from -40C to +32C... I don't think temp is an issue.

its the stock bose head unit. lol i dont think id slap it. hmm i wonder whats going on with it

i dont have the bose head unit and mine dims. i just smack it a couple times and it works fine lol

i just noticed today..that my radio display unit dims on and off tooand it was 103 degree outside it might be the heat maybe?

I heard if you slap them the light turns up in faulty units

i have the BOSE one and it hurts cause I can't get the 2 line display when XM is on, nor can I get title to scroll when too long . Ideas ?

So my head unit started doing the same thing today for about 20 minutes. It faded in and out and then just stopped. Anyone took it to the dealer? I know its a small trivial issue but damn these cars have so many small issues with them....

I told them, it does not happen all the time but they just ordered me a new head unit, getting installed tomorrow.

Get an aftermarket head unit to replace your ipod, head unit, gps displays onto a nice 7" screen

haha i couldn't agree more thats alot of stuff -- just swap out the bose for a double din screen or a fold out, i think they both look pretty good.. I think bf is going to re-upgrade mine to a screen this christmas/birthday (they're a week apart) -- gotta love datin a car audio installer good luck - let us know what you decide!!

i couldnt handle havin this stupid Ipod wire dangling.. (i know it's not a bose.. but)

then it went to this..

now it looks like this.. hiding the ipod in the little storage area..

I think I'd gladly take the storage space instead of the 6-disc CD-changer they've got in there now. I only have 4 CDs in it.
