Ok so ill get some pictures up as soon as i can get them off my damn phone. facebook wont upload them for me and i lost the cable for it.

but anyways. about half of my hood is faded. almost like a sandy white/grey look to it. I have an hunch that waxing it with mothers 3 step system while it was sunny out did this to my hood. but if anybody can give me some pointers on how to go about fixing this that would be fantastical.

I was thinking a clay bar? Im scared that buffing it will just make it fade more. Does anyone know of a product that can rid me of this eye soar. thanks.

Heres what i used with of course the other 2 steps.

**Edit- Im very sorry for reposting this from the detailing forum but this gets wayy more volume

I just took a clay bar to the hood, color booster and a new coat of wax and theres still a bit of fade to it but it did make a difference. I guess ill have to get some wax remover. no it didnt look as bad but the paint was still faded just not oxidized.

Unfortunately, the fade you are seeing is on the clearcoat. The only thing you can really try to is wet sand it with 2000,3000 and then to bring back the shine with 3M rubbing compound (Part# 03900)Depending on how good it looks after that, a couple of coats of clearcoat might bring back the original shine.(and give you a new clearcoat).

After that wax it. Keep it waxed so the clearcoat doesn't dry up.Keep it off the sun.

It seems that on my car the side I touched less with waxes and polishes, looks the best now after all these years ...

one last thing....If you don't want to go through all the trouble above or after you do it all it still looks the same,Use Glade. Yes Glade. It will bring back a shine that only competes with spraying WD40 on the hood. The only problem with that is that it only lasts a few days .

thank you so much. dimitri. I clay barred it? used showtime detailer, a color booster then i re waxed it and it did clear up the fade a little bit. I dont really have the cash to throw onto just fixing the paint on my hood so i think ill just stick it out until i get a real black paint job. thank you so much though
