I am new to 240sx's but not Nissans, and I have a 93 with a ka24de, which is currently still stock and I feel like I have NO POWER untill 5,500rpm, and this power band only lasts untill about 6,500rpm.
I just gave the car a full tune up, NGK Iridium plugs, and NGK wires, new cap, rotor, and coil, new air filter, new fuel filter, ran through some fuel injector cleaner, I cleaned the AIV valve, replaced the O2 sensor, sprayed the MAF and throttle body with carb cleaner, checked the egr vavle and checked for vacuum leaks (found none), tightened the sunroof up, cut the top speed limiter off, it has a new clutch and brakes and tires (I know, the last few have nothing to do with the motor just felt like showing how much of this car is new)
In short.......I think this motor should be rocking from at most 4k to atleast 6.8k.
It has 143k on motor but has a good head, good head gasket, good (all-be-it stock) exhaust, I've never had the compression checked, but by the way it pulls from 5.5 to 6.5k rpm I KNOW it has normal compression. I've never done the pcv valve but I don't think that would affect where the power band is. It Idles perfect and runs smooth as silk. It also passed the emissions test with 0.0% CO and 15ppm of HC. It just sucks until 5.5k rpm.
It'll smoke my perfect running N/A z31 if you keep it in that narrow arse power band, but if you drop below it at all it's over.
Is it normall for the power to be in one big lump like that?? Am I just too used to the VG30's LONG, FLAT power band?? Is it ignition timing?? Timing chain jump a notch?? PCV valve?? Am I missing something here?? I'm just lost.
Please help.
