I recently was in an accident. My M35 is only a couple of months old. I need a new replacement bumper cover. Infiniti referred me to a local body shop. I'm cocerned b/c the body shop told me they may to blend the bumper color into the body of the car to make a match. This didn't not make sense to me. I expected that they would spray the bumper cover w/ the same paint the factory used and it would match perfectly. Needless to say, I'm not very comfortable w/ the repair. Any ideas are appreciated.

You can never match factory paint system exactly............without spending $10,000+................you will see the differences in 1-4 years....if not immediately!

Part of your punishment for having a wreck [regardless of fault] [as they are never 100% accidents] with no negligence.

My 2003 M45 was hit from behind some months back. Rear bumper took the damage and has been replaced - new factory paint on the new one. They did not need to blend it in to the body paint fortunately.

No choice in the matter, of course!

Yeah, it pretty much matches now, but ... down the road, it will show, I suppose. Of course, since I plan to keep the car for as long as I can, this may just be a slight difference that I will have to live with for myself.

And, of yes, welcome to NICO!

Has the body shop seen the car? So vehicles, not specifically the M, the bumper color from the factory is not an exact match to the rest of the car. I owned a 2003 G and had damage to the bumper and the body shop asked the question before looking at the car.

I was also involved in an accident and had to have my bumper repainted. The body shop tried 3 times to match the rest of the car, but no luck. They tell me that they are using the exact specifications from the factory. However, it is very obvious that the colors are different.

I feel your pain...

Dude,

I had my M for less than 3 weeks, when my wife backed the Lexus into it. I had a dent and a serious scratch. The dealer recommended that I replace the bumper for $1000.

I went to a good shop in Westminster, CA. Got it fixed with factory paint. MATCHED JUST LIKE NEW! Took them twice to get it right of course. Then I brought the Lexus in too. All this for $400!

Good Luck!

I need a front bumper cover for my Pearl White 2003 M45. Any suggestions where I can purchase just the cover or must I buy the entire bumper?

Thanks,

Gove Joe Tsensky at http://www.everythinginfiniti.com a call and see if can provide an answer.

My understanding (and I may well be wrong!) is that the bumper is actually a rubber item that is painted the color of the car. So, if it is just a paint scratch, then that can be re-painted. If the bumper is broken, or pierced, then a replacement is what is needed.

fwiw, had my rear bumper replaced at a local shop two years ago. beautiful job, can not tell it from original, but guess the black is easier to match.

(my son backed the car into the corner of our house. 1 taillight and bumper fascia, $960 or so..)
