Usually, you just loosen the jack by pulled it out after turning it a few times. The square head with the holes...?

I just took my jack out for the first time since owning the car. Make sure to turn counterclockwise to lower. I had to use some good force to get that initial turn. I just wiggled it until it came out. I might put some grease in there to make it easier next time. Does anybody know what that tube back there connects to and its function? It came loose when wrestling with the jack!

You're probably referring to the drain tube for your moonroof. It is very important that does not leak into the car - reseat it and run water (carefully) into your moonroof wells to test for leaks.

Thanks for the tip, as it was raining pretty hard today and I fixed it this morning.

Try turning the top of the jack - the portion that pivots and fits over the body seam - so that it points across the car instead of along it. That way when you lift the back you get a few extra mm clearance and it should come out easy. I too swore at it for the first couple of times until I worked that one out. Wouldn't it have been so much easier for them to add just a little extra clearance!
