Hi all! Happy New Year!

My local dealer called today to inform me that they could put me in a 2017 Rogue SL with all of the same options as my 2015 Rogue SL for roughly the same monthly payments. She claimed incentives and dealer discounts make this possible.

I generally car shop using a spreadsheet that has the Factory Invoice and MSRP for the trim model, packages, DOC, destination, and accessories. (I almost always knock out the DOC fees as my first step.) The formulae in the spreadsheet crunches those numbers, factors in rebates, incentives, dealer discounts, dealer hold back, factory incentives, and then gives me a range of fair offers for both the dealer and especially me. I do not mind feeding the dealer and sales person, but I am not sending their kids and grandkids to Harvard. Generally speaking I make an offer near the low end, the dealer counters near the high end, and I then make a FINAL offer by calculating the difference between the offers and adding 33% of that to my original offer. I usually end up paying 2% to 4% below the total factory invoice. This has worked with Chrysler, Ford, Toyota, Honda, Dodge, Subaru, Nissan, Mercedes, GMC, and several other makes. In most cases the vehicle has to ship from the factory. In all cases the deal was done on the telephone until email caught on at dealerships. After the car arrives and is prepped, I go in and leave within 20 to 30 minutes. If there is a trade in involved, it may take an additional 10 to 15 minutes to process that transaction.

I am having trouble locating the sheets with all of the prices of options and accessories showing invoice and MSRP for everything. Does anyone have a source for this information?

Thanks,

WillWho?

Hi WillWho, I don't have the info you are looking for, but if you wouldn't mind sharing your spreadsheet with us would be great!
Thanks

We just got our 2017 Rogue SL without the Platinum interior but all options. It was $29,421 I believe from of an MSRP of $33,8xx area. So I am unsure where invoice is exactly, but this was a good deal.

In order to use the spreadsheet, you would need to be an expert level Excel user. I will try to work on creating a version that makes it impossible to change the formula, but allows for user input of the many variables.

That sounds about right. The platinum interior adds $2200.

I have received offers from dealerships ranging from $29,990 to $32,700 before tax, tag, and title. I am trying to get my local dealer, who had the highest offer by $1200, to meet the other offers.

Hmmm, the Platinum interior is only a $250 option.

We have the platinum package, just not the orange interior which is the $250 option.

You are correct. Here is all of the info on the pkgs:

inc: safety shield warning technologies, LED Headlights, Power Panoramic Moonroof (Pltnm Pkg), Forward Emergency Braking (Pltnm Pkg), pedestrian detection (Pltnm Pkg)

SL Platinum Pkg
INV $682.00 MSRP $770.00
inc: Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC), Lane Departure Prevention, Forward Emergency Braking (Prem Pkg), pedestrian detection (Prem Pkg), Wheels: 19" Alloy, Lane Departure Warning, lane departure prevention and lane departure warning <a bit repetitive, he said redundantly>, Tires: 19"

SL Platinum Reserve Interior Pkg

I added some highlighting to show some repetition.
