Can't recall a ballast failure ever being mentioned on a FGY33.

Doesn't mean it can't happen, but definitely ballast failure is more common on F50 model.

I'm phucking jealous!!!!!!! I was told that you had to do a lot of rewiring to get the "racoon" lights to work with our 98. Did it take a lot of work/re-wiring? Please post pics; can't wait to see them because I want HID's on my car.

ARRGGGGHHHH!! Pure sexiness!! I see that you upgraded your fogs too! I'm about to click on your link, but did it take a lot of re-wiring to make the fac. hids work with your non factory wiring? I'm quite sure you had to bring in some power for the balast to operate. Please explain!

1. I see you took the amber out of the headlights. How hard was that or did you purchase it without?

2. Where did you get that grill from??

thanks ... i was told you dont have to bring in power , but i had some bad luck over the past few years with hids so i put a relay on each light . worked like a charm. i have the factory bulbs in the headlights (6000k) the fogs are 8000k might upgrade the headlights to match the fogs . not sure yet. the headlights are from a y33 strait from japan so they already have amber out of them. just need to put led amber bulbs in there, they are kinda on the white side, and the grill i got from someone who sold there car .

1.) The early FGY33 don't have relays? THe G50 did.

2.) 8000K (not the lower case k) will have less lumens which means it is ot an upgrade vision wise.

3.) ...have the street sign beam pattern kick pick up on the wrong side so they blind oncoming drivers. Better put everything in a trust in case you get sued in civil court.

1) yes there is factory relays but i guess other lights draw off it ? i put relays so i only had to do it once .(aftermarket hids never got enough amps through factory harness, and the after market hids lights would flicker and sometimes not light up both sides, didnt even try the factory hids might of worked?) 2) so your saying the 6000K are better for vision ? (maybe i will put 6000K in my fogs ?) 3) i did notice that the beams pointed a little toward the wrong side, wondered if it was a adjustment? i didnt think that they drive on a different side. good point thanks ... (if i get suied you think they are going to notice the lens on my car refelect a different direction ? i have been a car racer/builder for 32 years, and i could barely notice ! but thanks for looking out ! )

So are you staying the only thing that you did to get these lights to power up is add a relay? I guess I'm asking, how exactly did you get these to power up? Doesn't the balast have a power plug? If so, how and what did you actually do to get it to work.

Brian is right, the higher the "K" number, the lower the lumens. Factory hid lights are around 4300k so this bulb will produce more lumens than a 8000k blub. The magic number to aim for in K temps are 4100-6000k. Anything over 6k is just for looks and you won't be able to hardly see the road when it's wet.

BTW...I didn't know that there were trees and land in Brooklyn lol.

you like that grass in brooklyn .,.. hahaaa i knew someone would say something .....factory power wire i used for my relay switch trip, and ran a seperate power and fuse to relay. theres a good spot to ground on both inner fender wells that i used with loop, (10mm bolt, with factory grounds there).Had to re wire the blinker and parking lamps because the plug was different. (just spliced in before plugs and used a different 3 wire plug) left factory plugs under hood in case i wanna ever go back to orignal lights. (headlights, parking, blinker).

this was over kill , but like i said i wanted to do it once. factory hid's are alot less sevitive thand aftermarket hid's. aftermarket hid require this relay setup not factory hid's. All looks factory, and i know my lights are going to turn on ...
