Does anyone know if there's a way to replace the Bose stereo with an aftermarket one and wire it in such a way to still have the factory GPS audio fed through?

Thanks,Mike.

I thought the two were independant of the other...did you open it up and look at it? or just researching now? What are you planning on doing with your old Bose unit?

Are you talking about just the cd player or the whole Bose system? If you want to take the cdplayer out and switch it you should be able to buy an aftermarket one. You would have to get the wiring harness and mounting bracket, but it should work. Let us know what you find out.

Just to clarify, I was hoping to take out the whole Bose system and integrate the factory NAV audio into an entirely new head unit if this is possible. I'm getting really annoyed with the poor quality of the "Premium Bose" system.

Thanks,Mike.

from the crutchfield website "What you need to know: The factory navigation will still operate, but the voice guidance system will be lost. Questions? Call 1-888-955-6000 to speak with an expert." and it comes with a wiring harness if you buy the head unit from them they have always been A+ in the past i have bought 4 of them for 4 diff cars through them

I tried to have an aftermarket Kenwood installed with my factory nav. Everything worked great except voice. My installer tried everything he could including it's own speaker. I am thinking about pulling out the factory nav and going with the Kenwood.

I realize this thread is alittle old but this is a write up i did and posted on another forum. gps audio works fine through a speaker from a radar detector. hope others find this useful.
