I was looking at a 2003-2007 Nissan Murano while parked at a light and noticed that the exterior door handles were finished in chrome. Then I noticed that the Muranos door handles look a lot like the ones on the Rogue.

Well turns out after looking on http://www.courtesyparts.com the part numbers for the door handles are the same for the Murano and the Rogue, therefore the Factory Chrome Exterior Door Handles of the Murano should swap easily onto the Rogue.

Here are some pictures for comparison:

I think those who have the chrome front grills will like these handles.

Venom_Rogue,

CourtesyParts part numbers are not OEM Nissan numbers. They add thier own unique 5 digit number (yyyyy shown below) after the dash. Nissan uses a different number for the yyyyy part.

Here is a little primer on Nissan part no's:

xxxxx(xx)-yyyyy

xxxxx(xx) = part identifier, shared across multiple vehcles, the xx is optional and usually denotes left or right sideyyyyy = model specific identifier (ie model, paint color, etc)

In this case, all 'pull type' outside door handles start with 80640-yyyyy. The 80640 number is the same for the Murano, Rogue, Versa, Titan, Armada, etc. Only the yyyyy part varies with the model, year , and trim of vehicle.

I think you may have assumed the parts are the same since they start with the same 5 digit number. This is incorrect. On the CourtesyParts listing, the last 5 digits of the part number are different between the Rogue and the Murano. I tried to find OEM part no's but haven't had much luck yet.

Sometimes a part from another Nissan of the same model year can be swapped even if the part no's differ. The only way to know for sure is to compare the parts side by side. To me they look differently shaped. The Murano's door handle appears thicker and has sharper corners.

Thats really good info that you have supplied, I did not know this, however from visual inspection they seem to be the same...I will have to take some measurements from a Murano and compare.

However generally, most car manufacturers tend to create parts that are interchangeable from model to model, and hopefully this is the case with the door handles.

Well whatever info can be provided would help greatly. I have so many scratches on my black door handles, it seriously looks ridiculous. Especially since nobody rides with me very often, and they are on all the door handles. I've been looking into door handle covers but have yet to find any from another make/model that will fit snuggly and look well. I would prefer an aluminum finish as well as for the grill, but I will probably just paint the grill insert when I order it...but I won't the door handles because of their constant use will probably damage any work done on em anyways. I'll keep looking, and Venom_Rogue let me know (or us shall I say) if you find anything more out on swapping the handles.

Don't forget, those of you with the intelli key won't be able to swap handles. I like the look of the Chrome handles, though. But wouldn't they get hot in the sun? Also, they dont' have the little cut out for the rubberized black intelli key button that lets you unlock the car without diggin' in your pockets for the remote. Personally, I'm upset with the Intelli key... Anytime I want to drive my wifes car, I walk up to the handle and fiddle around with it, feeling for the black button that's not there...Then I have to dig the car keys out of my pocket, and once inside, for cyrin' out loud, I found I have repocketed my keys and I need a real key to start the ignition! This intelli key is messin with my head! Alas, it's so nice with the intelli key, what took so long for car makers to come up with it? I love it SO much, I'm starting to forget to even pocket the keys when I want to drive the Rogue!

+2005 Murano's had Intellikey as part of higher trim levels/options. You can barely make out the request button on the door handle of the Murano below. BTW, I'm not sure if it's a real chrome plated metal handle. More likely it's chrome plated plastic. Some images are courtesy of Nissan

It is plastic. I had the chrome handles on my 05 Frontier. It was nice not to worry about the scratches.
