I bought a s14 a little more than a month ago and took it for a test drive, everything was solid except for the clutch (but what did I care I am doing a RB25 swap and it let me get a good price). It has 125k miles on it and everything seems to be in pretty good shape all things considedered, and it had no accedent reports on carfax. Then I got it home and locked it and left it out front of my house and about 5 in the morning the alarm went off. I went out and turned it off and assumed maybe a squirl jumped on the car. Well the next night at about 3 in the morning it went off again and then again the night after that. Overall this has happened about 5 times and each time it was about 6 hours after I locked (both with the key and by hand, don't have a remote assume it was lost) the car and walked away the alarm goes off unexplicably (this is each and every time left it locked for that long). So from now on I have been leaving the car unlocked at night so the alarm does not go off but would prefer to be able to lock my car. I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem or if you have any suggestions.

Locate the alarm brain, Its normaly under the steering wheel right above the break and gas pedals ( have to remove 5 or 6 screws). You can remove power to the alarm system. Once that is done you can lock and unlock you car all day with your key.It should look like a small black box, 3 inches by 6 but can vary depending on make and model of alarm.

If I remove the alarm will I still be able to get keyless entry just by getting a new remote? Also I tried to unplug the fuse for the alarm and I could not start the car after that, I won't have the same problem with this?

I was playing around this weekend trying to fix my alarm and noticed 2 things. One the security light does not blink when the passenger side door is opened (however it does when the driver door, hood or trunk are open) two there is a little clip like thing at the bottom of the plastic below the ignition that looks like it is supose to hold a chip. However there is no chip in it. I am leaning towards the chip being the problem but have no idea how to fix it. It appears that it is somewhat wired out of the system because the car still starts.

Does the factory alarm even have a vibration sensor? I didnt even know my car had a security system untill i left my windows down... unlocked the door from the inside and opened the door. I just figured the security light was for the factory radio only. Anywho, i have bumped my car pretty hard and I t hasn't gone off. I need to pick up a remote as well. as for your problem, I can check my service manual when it gets here in a few days. really for ~100 bucks... everyone on this forum should have one, its worth way more than it costs.

I am looking at getting at factory service manual, but have not gotten around to it. No it does not come with an impact sensor, but could you check to see if yours comes with the chip that I was talking about. I will take a picture of it if you don't understand what I am talking about.

do you have a digital camera? Take some pictures of it and let us take a peak. As for removing your alarm and keeping your remote door opener, yes you can do that. Just pull the wire connectors that go to the alarm sensors and not the power door (pull a wire and try your doors. Pull another till the doors work but the alarm will not go off) I didnt know that the 240 came with stock alarms. All the ones I worked on where after-market installs.

Sorry about the wait but I was busy installing my radio in my car yesterday. This is the chip that I was talking about.

this is the unit that I found under the steering wheel and was wondering if it is factory or aftermarket.

This is the radio I installed. I think it looks rather nice. The JVC Kameeleano or however you spell that. Let me know what you guys think.

I also noticed an interesting thing yesterday. When I just turn the car off the security light is not flashing as long as all the doors are closed. But when I come back after a few hours the security light flashes every second just like it does when I have a door/hood/trunk open. That is drivers side door because the passengers side does not respond. I can open the passengers side door and the dome light will not come on nor does the security light.

240SXedup did you look at the pictures and are compared it to what you have in your car? Like I said I did not buy my car new so I have no idea if it is factory. Also do you have a chip in the clip that I was talking about or do you have a clip at all? I have not met too many people in my area yet with 240's since I just bought mine so I don't have anyone to campare it to.

Also I love your sig but I think it would be a little better if it readHondas are like tampons, everyone that has one is a *****.

There are 3 fusible switches that control the alarm system by the main fuse box. If you want to disable the system then remove them.

Please give me a little better idea of what it is you are talking about. Fusible switch??? is that different than a fuse? I have looked in the fuse box (blew one installing the radio) are you talking about the 3 that run down the side that are not labled? By main fuse box I assume you are talking about the one inside the cabin and not the one under the hood, because I tried to take out the security relay and that made my motor not start. Also back to what I asked earlyer about disableling the alarm will that take out keyless entry or are those different systems?
