Background:I have a RB26 oil cooler that I received from a friend. I was going to use it on my 25 (but through a lapse of time / memory) I had come to the conclusion that the 26 oil filter bracket / cooler did not have a cooler (just a filter). So I decided to inspect the 26 unit since I had it collecting dust.
Main oil filter bracket - assembly:
There is a single 17mm nut that holds the cooling unit to the bracket. When you loosen the bolt, the cooling unit will flop around, and probably weep or leak oil, if it was not previously drained.
After full removing the cooling unit, you will notice that the bolt is actually a banjo style! I tried getting a shot of the entire bolt, but it lost focus at the bottom (you get the idea ) The center is hollow, with 2 pair of holes in the bottom, it also has gasket / seal near the head (orange-ish).
Bolt:
The oil filter bracket: Note the ball-bearing check-valve on the bottom
Cooler:
Also, the bolt pattern for the oil filter bracket on the 26 appears totally different than the 25. I have not removed my 25 to compare them.
I just thought I would post this for anybody interested, or had wondered about it.
