If anyone has had this problem, is it fixable? The clicking sounds like its coming from left of the steering column on the drivers side. When the clicking is heard the door will not lock & alarm will not set. To solve this I have put the key in & out of the ignition a few times & opened and closed the door a few times & started & shut off the car & suddenly the clicking stops & then you can hit the lock & the alarm sets when the door closes. The car can be parked a block away, in my driveway, or at work & alarm will go off for no reason - so its not accidentally hitting the panic button on the remote key problem. No problem stopping it though when key inserted. It does not do this all the time - 3 times in last 3 weeks - in all types weather. Only started doing this after being in Nissan dealership for an 0-2 sensor replacement.

Acouple things come to mind here. but going with the recent repair. Take a look at the hood pin switch under the hood. Try disconnecting it and see if you problem still exists. If it doesnt I am thinking they may have leaned on it and bent it down a bit unknowingly and it is making and breaking contact triggering the alarm.

If thats not your problem you may have a problem with you key switch in the door. You likely dont use your key all that often and istead use the remote to lock and unlock your car. The dealer may have used the key to unlock and lock the car which may have set off a problem the key cyl already had. This can be checked by feeling how much resistance your key cyl has when turining it or how difficult it is to unlock and lock the door with the key. If it feels rough chances are the key switch is jamming up and holding contact.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I checked the hood, trunk & door switches, all of which are fine, making good contact, not bent etc. I checked the fuses - all fine. My remote lock/unlock does not work anymore, the alarm will not set at all. (At least the security indicator light does not blink or stay solid) I have been locking the car doors manually from inside by actually pushing the door lock (not the power lock switch on door handle) because I thought this would keep the alarm from sounding - silly me. Today's 6 AM & 6:30 AM horn honking is not sitting well with neighbours. I am now leaving car unlocked. When I push the power door lock switch there is a single click which sounds like its coming from the vicinity of the drivers side fuse box. The power door lock switch does work- the doors lock & unlock fine. I did play with the key locking/unlocking the door from the outside of the drivers side & I did notice a few times the key would not turn to the lock position it felt like it was hitting something. By wiggling it would eventually move and it still locks & unlocks the doors fine. Any other ideas or do you think its the actual door locking mechanism? Help?

on the back of the lock cyl you were fighting to turn there is a micro switch. If that switch becomes dislodged from the lock cyl you will have a problem turning the key and a problem activating and deactivating the alarm. you need to get the inner door panel off and see if the micro switch is hosed up.
