I think tonight I have finally become completely frustrated with what Facebook has become, it seriously has went down the crapper over the past 1-2 years... When I joined Facebook I didn't really give a crap then but a friend setup an account for me and convinced me to give it a chance, seeing as I only had a Myspace at the time. I started to really like it because it was limited as to who could sign up for it, so I didn't have to worry about everybody and their family trying to follow me on there so it was great. I finally deleted my Myspace account because I didn't use it anymore and was tired of all the drama on there. Everything is all fine and good until Facebook gets the bright idea to open registration to EVERYONE, at first this seemed kind of cool but that wore off quick because next thing you know my wifes little sisters get a facebook, then my best friends 7 yr old sister, and it keeps getting better.

Now most of my family has one including my Grandmother, who types in ALL CAPS ALL THE TIME, but no big deal. I don't mind keeping up with family now and again, but then finally my aunt and uncle create a Facebook for their DOGS. My aunt makes up status updates for the dogs, and don't get me wrong either. I love dogs, i've been a dog person all of my life but this is just a bit much. I'm really tired of wasting my time on a site that I used to enjoy for communicating with my old friends and current friends that's now overrun by pre-teens using EPIC, OMG, KTHX, and other text short hand that looks like crap randomly generated to piss me off but makes them so much cooler than everyone else. I can understand using it in a text message and even sparingly in certain areas but seriously a whole paragraph? Come on. That along with animals having their own pages with status updates, and the fact that my whole Facebook page no longer gets any comments from my friends because it's overrun by my Aunt and Grandmother commenting on everything I post 30 sec after I post it. I swear their like ninjas that never sleep, hiding in the white background of Facebook waiting for me to post a status update or a new picture.

At this point, I think i've had it with the whole social networking thing. It was cool a 3-4 years ago but now it's just become extremely ghey. Yes, I could delete friends, block people, not accept friend request, and ect but then all it would do is just piss off tons of people rather than just stop using what I already hardly use already.

Anyways... that ends my rant, sorry just needed to vent my frustration a little since I can't vent on Gheybook without a comment from the invisible ninjas. I'm just glad there are still some good forums out there, like Nico. It wouldn't be the same without them :dblthumb:

My dog has a Facebook page. You never know when you need a backup account.

I love social networking. I have reconnected with friends I haven't talked to in nearly 20 years, but some of the stuff gets on my nerves. I am almost completely done with MySpace. My status as we speaks says 'if you want to keep in touch, go to FB because I'm going to delete this account'. Facebook I have toned down quite a bit. Only my friends can see 95% of my information. I have all of the game notifications turned off ( I detest FARMVILLE with every fiber of my being). The FB page for NICO I keep transparent though, at least for now. I've had a couple of a$$ come in there and try to take a s*** on the floor, but overall it hasn't been bad. I understand your frustration though. I have seen people's private lives smeared all over their pages and I think that's tacky and tasteless.

wtf, I thought you had a Lollerskate???

Facebook has become terrible lately. I just stop accepting friend requests from people I dont know/don't like. Its pretty useful for planning stuff and keeping in touch with the people that you want.

I do enjoy being able to connect with all of my old friends again, which is what sold me in the first place. I guess I should try making some adjustments to things first before blowing it off altogether. I can't totally get rid of it anyways, since my job is websites, I need to retain an account even if I hardly use it since Facebook still provides a lot in that area alone. I set up new Facebook accounts every week for clients to use for their business and ect. It has it's good points, i'm just tired of having to block half of the stuff on there but at least they give you the ability to do so, I guess that's a plus. Myspace is the devil though, me and my wife both dropped our myspace accounts nearly 3 years ago and never have missed them.

It feels good to be almost free of the horrible cancer known as social networking, wait decontamination chamber? That doesn't sound good :inout:

Probably would've been a good idea, now it's too late for me though. I've already let them in and they've infected everything :ohno: SAVE YOURSELVES!

I don't want to reconnect with old friends. For the most part, they're OLD friends for a reason.

This is retarded... You're bitching about a free service for social networking on an internet message board in the "General Chat" section which is basically social networking.

the only reason it is somewhat useful for me is that I have moved around so much, changed my phone numbers, lived in Europe for a year, etc.

It does make it easy to get ahold of people if you so feel inclined. But yeah, I agree that most old friends are OLD for a reason though.

You can always just ignore button, which I love and use constantly in my day to day life.

Fair enough, you make a good point. I guess when it comes down to it everything you can post something on is considered social networking so I guess it's all the same... Just some of them have less annoyances involved than others.

I understand your point...

I have a bunch of people on Facebook that annoy me all the time. I'm too lazy to unfriend them.

Weak. I expected any "old friends" of yours to be on the missing persons list, Chris :gapteeth:
