I fabricated my engine and transmission mounts this weekend...

Engine/trans combo (this is a bare, bad, block that I am using just for fabrication purposes:

This is the transmission mount I made:

This is the transmission mount installed:

These are the motor mounts I made:

This is the RH mount installed:

I can still remove the starter with the mount installed. We'll see if I can say the same thing after I've made the headers.

This is the LH mount installed:

Please excuse the spatter. I had to use flux cored wire in my MIG in order to weld the 1/4" thick material. My welder won't do anything thicker than 3/16" on MIG alone.

Wow solid mounts! That's gonna make for good times when coming off the clutch pedal! Looks plenty strong enough.

Have you reinforced with additional plate on the underside of the crossmember? Did this on mine:

Nice mounts. This was one of the more time consuming parts of mine as well, mainly getting everything to line up where I want it, tacking everything (since they've got rubber bushings), and pulling the engine back out, welding again, and putting the engine back in to see if it all still lined up.

While everyone is throwing in pictures, this might just turn into a thread of how to mount your VH45. I don't know where the pictures of my engine side mounts went, but I'll look for them.

Yep, solid... the car is a trailer queen dedicated drag car, so I'm not concerned with comfort at all, and it's an auto... so the only shock will be coming off the transbrake under 15psi of boost

I had that exact idea in mind, but I havn't gotten to it yet. The mounts were the hard part, that'll probably be next weekend's job.

BTW, Love your mounts Mettler...

15psi?? :O Have you changed the internals on your motor?

Haha cheers m8! Look forward to seeing your progress! Yeh for all intents and purposes, mine are practically solid mounts too as that's 90 shore hardness urethane pressed into the mounts... shouldn't move but to remove the tiniest vibrations. I'm hoping to be able to stand a coin up on my plenum when I've finished

I'm picking up my block from the machine shop this week. They had to go .005" overbore to remove the 0.003" out of round. Not bad for a motor with 170,000 miles. Now that I have a final bore measurement I'll be calling CP to order a set of custom pistons. I really want to run the stock rods to see their limit, but at the same time I don't want to find out the hard way. The Pistons will be targeting a 9.2:1 static CR with deeper valve reliefs for bigger cams, just in case...

That's a built TH400 from JW Performance. It is rollerized and has a reverse pattern valve body with a transbrake. With the weight of my car, it is good for 1000HP.

Thanks mate, i cant all the credit i got the idea off a chassis builder, he showed me his mounts on a drag car he built and i made these.Your mounts appear to be solid as hell, those things should never break.
