hey guys. i got a leak on my rack and pinion. well i can do the r/r but i looked at alldata about the r/r. i am a little confused about install process about setting the cover on the gear and the 60degrees turn. 2002 Infiniti Q45 V8-4.5L (VK45DE) Vehicle Level Steering and Suspension Steering Steering Gear Service and Repair Removal & Installation Removal & Installation Notes REMOVAL
CAUTION: The rotation of the spiral cable (SRS "Air bag" component part) is limited. If the steering gear must be removed, set the front wheels in the straight-ahead direction. Do not rotate the steering column while the steering gear is removed.
Remove under cover.
Remove and tires cotter pin and remove tie rod outer socket from knuckle arms with Tool. CAUTION: Be careful not to damage tie rod ball joint dust boot. Remove pinch bolt on lower side of the lower joint. Loosen pinch bolt on upper side of the lower joint. Remove high-pressure side and low-pressure side hydraulic pipes from the power steering gear. Remove gear and linkage assembly mounting bolts. Remove rack mount bracket and rack mount insulator from the vehicle. Disconnect EPS solenoid valve connector. Remove power steering gear from the vehicle.INSTALLATION
Install in the reverse order of removal. Install pipe connector. Lower-pressure side: 27.5 - 39.2 Nm (2.8 - 3.9 kg-m, 21 - 28 ft. lbs.) High-pressure side: 14.8 - 24.5 Nm (1.5 - 2.4 kg-m, 11 - 28 ft. lbs.)
After installation bleed the system. Follow the procedure below to install lower joint to the power steering gear:Set the rear cover cap projection into slot A in the gear subassembly. Lock the steering wheel by turning the steering wheelclockwise by 60° from the neutral position.
Install lower joint to the power steering gear while keeping the position shown at steps 1 and 2. Keep slit in lower section of the lower joint off the rear cover cap projection. Unlock steering and set steering wheel in the neutral position.
Check that the rear cover cap projection is correctly positioned relative to slot A in the gear sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.
