Hey all,

Anyone replace the key somewhere OTHER than the dealer? I just about passed out when the parts dept. quoted me $700. I could swear I remember reading that these keys are single program only, so you can't pickup a used one and reprogram it. Maybe that was for my Audi... Idk. Any advice is appreciated. The old gal has 204k on her now, and still looks sharp as ever :) Not quite ready to part with her just yet, but my key is getting really shabby, and it's starting to have issues

I bought a spare for my 03 m45 from eBay. Their going range is about 150 bucks for the used ones, but I believe I've seen a new one for about 300 bucks.
At the time I bought my spare, I took it to a Nissan dealer because that was all I had close by but they couldn't program it. I got too busy and never made it to Infiniti then my car had to be grounded for a while, but when I spoke to them while on another trip all the service manager said was that I should bring all the keys I intended to program with me. My limited knowledge of key ID chips doesn't let me see how these can't be reprogrammed.

Also, I spoke to a guy who had a "regular" key (transponder chip embedded in plastic head + a metal blade). He had had it done at a good locksmith in St. Louis. If you can live without the fancy shape, then consider getting such a key for starting the car and just carry the large fob around for remote lock/unlock. But I feel like a reputable locksmith can locate an integrated fob with something to match your KBRASTU13 code.

Thanks Edbwoy,

I just ended up getting a super clean used one on eBay. Was about $180. I'm going to try to find a locksmith that can program the chip so I can bypass the dealer all together ;)

Glad you got a key Mike, already programmed?
Anyway, there seems to be a way around the expensive fancy fobs. Figured I'd put this here since the q45 and m45 key fobs are the same: post6676787.html#p6676787
