Has anyone else noticed that the Q45 is downright dangerous if you drive through a puddle? It's seems to be okay in rain if there aren't any puddles in the road. I'm not sure if the Q's response to puddles is specific to the vehicle itself or the fact that it's RWD and this is a normal characteristic. dd

If rain is the major concern be sure to never let tire tread depth even get down to half worn. Replace tires every 10k or less. The higher the performance pattern or the more directional then tread depth gets to be a very serious concern even before 8,000 miles.

My Q45 basically has brand new All-Season tires on it when I purchased it----and the tread is still 95% on it. The tires are only Coopers though...but I doubt that is the reason. I remember another member stating they experienced the same issue with their F50 too.

I've always put only high end tires on my car, the lowest quality ever being the Toyo Ventura (new luxury line). I hesitate to say lowest as they were expensive and served me loyally for nearly 50,000 with rotations.

It's ALL in the tires. In the rain, I fear for my life in my 19's, even with semi-new tires. On my stock 17's, with Michelins before, and Toyo's now, I am a road warrior.

Tire Rack has lots of wet panic braking from 50 mph and WET slalom tests that can help you decide which tires are best brand new in the WET.

Important to understand that the same sized tires on the same vehicle can vary from 81 feet to 117 feet in a 50 mph panic stop. That's a 44% variance across brands. All Season tires are mediocre at best having nowhere near the warm wet stopping ability of a Summer Tire from say Michelin. Even Michelin A/S are a definite downward.

Tire Compounds must be optimized for the tire road interface temperature!

Summer high performance tires almost always out wt brake and out wet handle their A/S brethern in tests. Billiard ball hard 400 UTQG tires will roll maybe twice as far, and take twice as long to stop form speed or in the wet.

Be careful for what you wish!

According to Tirerack tests, the Michelin summer only Pilot PS2 stops a whole 5 {FIVE} feet shorter in their wet braking tests than the all season Michelin Pilot Exalto.......not alot of difference considering the PS2 is over 2x the cost of the Exalto, and the treadwear is 1/2 the Exalto! Good all season tires are closing the gap in performance, unlike early attempts at a all season tire.

Overall I agree.. Then again, that 5 feet could be the difference between saving your car or life.. really good all season tires are probably better than the lower end summer tires for sure!!

The nice thing about those really intense summer tires is they really hold up well if you take your car on the track!

If I stop 5 feet shorter and stay out of someone's trunk, it is way less expensive than 3x the cost of the cheaper tire.

Don't think the 3er series test cars are necessarily a pure correlation to the heavier G50. Tread pattern and depth, compounds, load capacity and tire pressure are all important and ignoring any optimization of any one parameter can lessen a tire's performance below a well adjusted in specification cheaper tire.

Having used the PS2, all I can say it is in a different universe from any other Michelin in all aspects. The Goodyear F1 DS G3 is pretty good also at 12K and at a nice savings to the PS2.
