Okay, I finally got enough miles on my new to me '05 Q45 to make a determination on oil consumption. I have approx 2400 miles since last oil change (to M1-Extended Performance 5-30). Dipstick level appears to be down approxuimately 1/3 quart. I note that as mentioned in other threads on the subject, initial consumption seemed to be greater than after the level went down a little. Once the level dropped a little, it went down ever so slowly. Looks like I'm probably getting around 7500 miles per quart of pretty thin oil. Comparing that to reports here of under 3,000 miles per quart is encouraging. I was concerned about that.

My '94 Q45t didn't use any oil at 105k, so even this is a little disconcerting for me, but I'm hoping that as mileage increases from the current 27,500 it will improve a little more.

Anyone else have any personal experience with oil consumption in their F50?

George, I have a "new to me" 2002 F50 with about 80K. I have put about 2000 miles on it since I bought it (and immediately changed the oil). I am running 5W-30 synthetic in it and I just had to add about a half a quart. So, about 3/4 of a quart every 3000 miles. I'm not thrilled with it either, but at least it doesn't use oil as bad as the rotary RX7 I used to own!

Thanks for the feedback Tim. Breaking in a new motor is the key to good oil consumption, power, and longevity. I know how to do that correctly. Unfortunately, that means buying new, something I can't afford with a Q45. I got lucky with my '94 though.

Yes, RX7s were noted for high oil consumption.

Best of luck with your new to you 2002. Nice car, isn't it?

I wonder how other F50 owners do with theirs.
