Depends a lot on how long it takes the car to warm on a cold start, time at stop lights and other idling conditions because idling = 0 mpg.

Really impossible to set a number because everyone's definition of CITY is different across the World.

The EPA numbers are accurate for a simulated dyno city because they do not include warm up time and follow a rigorous precise acceleration schedule.

A 4,000 pound 4.5 liter V8 [4.3>4.6] car gets about the same whether it is A FORD, a BMW, or Lexus or MB................weight is the key in city acceleration.

Idling is idling and purely a function of displacement...............a 2.2 liter engine will use less than half the fuel of a 4.5 idling.

I get about 10mpg with my G50 Q. That's mostly a 3 mile trip to work and 3 miles back. Not much traific but some stop and go. I also take my Q into Manhattan sometimes and get about the same. If I mix some highway driving into it, I might get 13, And the last time I did a long roadtrip, I got as high as 20mpg.

The computer says I get 19.5 but it's closer to 19.1. 75% city driving. (2002 F50).I fill up at 350 miles, it usually takes a little over 18 gallons.

I do about a 50/50 mix of freeway and surface street driving, very little in rush hour traffic in Phoenix AZ.

My '94 Q45t got anywhere from 18.5 to 22 mpg in this situation. Highway fuel mileqage was astounding, 25 5o 28 mpg at 65-75 mph. It didn't burn a drop of oil between 3500 mile changes.

My new to me 2005 Q45 is lucky to get 16.5 to 18 mpg in the same city driving, and 20 to 21.5 on the higway. It appears to be using around1/4 to 1/3 quart of oil per 1,000 miles. It has 24k miles on it, and I use Mobil 1 "Extended Service" 5 w 30 synthetic oil and factory filter.

The '94 did have timing bumped to 15 degrees BTDC, which helped fuel mileage and performance. I'm trying to get the timing bumped by 2 or 3 degrees from factory 12 degrees to 14 or 15 degrees BTDC on my 2005, but my dealer says it can't be done, although a member here advises that it CAN be done with a CONSULT II. I'm investigating that right now, and will report on whatever I find in a separate new thread when I have answers.

Anyone else have comments either way, or personal experience with ignition timing on F50?

OEM factory initial timing [offset of CAS] on 90-96 Q was always 15 BTDC, don't confuse chain stretch or dealer detune below 15 as normal.

No, I'm never the last one off the line. I think the 25% highway driving really helps, at 80 mph the instant mpg reading is over 25 mpg. I'm also never in rush hour traffic, and I don't do many short trips. I was expecting to get 17 mpg when I bought the car.

My last car a Lexus sc300 got 18 mpg and it was a straight 6.

1st tank of gas I got 17.77 mpg driving very hard and that's the lowest it’s ever been. When I filled it up the 2nd or 3rd time I used BG 44k, put in a new air filter and foot has lightened up a lot. But I do love smoking some punk in a riced out Honda, the look on their face when they get beat by an oversized maxima is priceless.

I was going from memory. I do know we bumped timing about 3 degrees. It helped a lot. I'd like to do the same, 2 or 3 degrees additional timing.

What do you think? And can a Consult II adjust timing for real?(Edited to read: Consult II adjust timing on an F50?)

Nothing but Chevron Premium for me, a top tier brand. When I leave the Southwest, where it's only sold,I try t stick with one of the old "Standard Oil Company" spinofffs, or barring that, BP in the Midwest.
